PRINTING TIPS

Each printer’s margins are different. If you print out the

document and it cuts off the edge, simply change the
settings to “FIT” instead of “Actual Size.” You will be able to
use the “Actual Size” option if you have a borderless
printer. Just make sure that the borderless option is
selected, and you’ll be able to print right to the edge.

FILE SIZE
I always want to give you the highest quality product
possible. Because of this, the file size for many of my
resources is very large. If you find that your system
can’t handle the file, I can send you a compressed
version. Email me at hellolilsprouts@gmail.com if you are
having difficulty printing or using the document.

GINGERBREAD HUNT
We read many different versions of the story of the Gingerbread Man throughout the week. As a
culminating activity, we make our own gingerbread cookies. They hop out of the oven and go
running all over the school! My kids LOVE this activity. I hope yours do too!

You can make this activity as simple or as involved as you’d like! Some years, when I have lots of
time, I go all out! We make the batter together as a class. Then, I call the kids over in small groups
to roll out their dough ball, and use the gingerbread man cookie cutter to make their cookies. Other
years, when I’m shorter on time, I don’t make the batter at all, and just attach the first clue to the
end of the gingerbread book I am reading that day.

Distribute all the notes before the kids come in for the day.

Set a time to have someone else come into the classroom

and set out all the store bought gingerbread cookies, while
you are out on the hunt with your class. (When I make my
own batter with the kids, I just throw out the gingerbread
cookies that they made from it, and have the store bought
ones ready and hidden somewhere in the classroom for the
person who is going to set them out.)

With allergies on the rise, don’t forget to check with parents

about safe ingredients. Also, you may want to consider
asking parents to donate some of the ingredients or the
store bought cookies. It can add up quick!

We are much like the gingerbread kids,

you have been reading about.
We were baking brown in the oven,
but then we hopped out!
We ran and ran,
as fast as we could,
to a place that has oodles of balls.
We shot some baskets and had all kinds
of fun!
Do you think you will be able to find us,
So that we can have some fun?

Looks as though you found the gym.

Now it’s time to look again.
Look for us by a friendly face,
who answers the phone in a busy place.
There’s mail here too,
but not for us,
hurry, hurry before we’re dust!

WHHHEEEE!! This is so much fun!

Do you think we might be almost done?
Now, we’re off to read lots of books,
So our brains are smart,
not full of gook!
Look for us where there are lots of
books!

We've read lots of books,

but you’re too late.
We are gingerbread men,
and could not wait!
We ran and ran,
but now we need some rest,
I think maybe our classroom would be
best!
