(RIM) in 1984, later rebranded as BlackBerry Limited. Lazaridis, with a background in
electrical engineering and computer science, played a crucial role in RIM's success,
showcasing early entrepreneurial spirit.

BlackBerry Limited played a major role in mobile communication and technology.

The recognition for BlackBerry smartphones was what made them so successful. The
company later diversified into software and security solutions.To date, BlackBerry
Limited offers 4 services from support all the way to technical training.

Lazaridis' had many technical expertise and a visionary way of thinking. This
significantly impacted mobile technology development. However, challenges arose due
to the release of the Iphone and other technology trends.The success factors of
BlackBerry Limited included a large engineering team and early entry into the
smartphone market. The company's innovation stemmed from strong engineering
capabilities, positioning itself as one of the leading pioneers in the smartphone industry.
Despite all of the success, challenges emerged in adapting to industry changes and
smartphone evolution, impacting BlackBerry's market share.

When navigating the roles of an entrepreneur and a manager, Lazaridis offered a

different approach to management. While entrepreneurs differ from traditional
managers, entrepreneurship involves a specific method of reaching organizational
goals. Lazaridis, as an entrepreneur, adds a dynamic layer to this understanding.

His entrepreneurial journey, founding RIM at a young age, made for technological
evolution. It highlights the complexities of the ups and downs in entrepreneurship and
innovation. While management optimizes a process and resource utilization,
entrepreneurship involves risk-taking, fostering innovation, and navigating uncertainties
to create impactful outcomes. In this case, I feel that Lazaridis is a perfect example of
how entrepreneurship is distinctly different from traditional management.

I decided to choose Mike Lizaridis because he is a famous Canadian

entrepreneur that had major success in the early years of cellphone technology. I felt
this was a very interesting person to research because the knowledge of what happens
behind the scenes is very limited in the business world. Up until the past few years when
Blackberry decided to release a motion picture, many people had no idea about Mike
Lizaridis' story and how Blackberry ended up where they are today.
