WEEK 1 DQ

Benefits of setting personal goals are simply that a person can accomplish many things by setting
those goals. Setting short-term goals to support those long-term ones can also inspire and push
someone to desire to achieve their goal. Personally, I prefer to have a single, overarching
objective when I make resolutions, and right now, for me, it is moving out on my own. Along
with smaller, more immediate objectives that will aid in achieving my longer-term objective. For
instance, getting a job and accumulating money, buying a car, or even finishing school to acquire
a better paid job that would make it easier for me to achieve my objective of moving out.
My lack of energy would be the only thing standing in the way of me working on the final
project. I occasionally experience those unexpected low points where I just don't feel like doing
much. But I'm determined to overcome this challenge and keep moving forward, so I won't let it
stand in my way.
To manage my time and energy, as referenced in chapter two of the textbook, I'll watch and mark
the hours when I'm the weariest, and then work around the exhaustion by listening to my body
and obtaining that sleep. Secondly, I could say no instead of saying yes if approached by a friend
or peer to assist with a particular assignment while I'm already worn out and fatigued. The final
action I can take to better manage my time and energy is to stop using social media, as it wastes
time that could be spent on activities that are more useful. Additionally, keeping up with friends
and/or unfavorable comments drains your mental resources and lowers your mood.

WEEK 2 DQ
My strongest ability is that I am a hard worker learner and easy outgoing person. At my work, I
have the skill to understand what my customer needs and how can I help them to reach to their
financial goals. I always try to improve and be better on everything possible to be able to meet to
my goals every quarter. My lack of speaking in public makes me be afraid to show others that I
am very capable to do more than I can do. Sometimes I feel that I need to look for someone's
approval for me to be able to finish what I must do and that makes me insecure of myself by start
thinking with negativity. The lack of English as second language has a lot to do with me for
feeling self-conscious about the way I speak. The SWOT analysis makes me to understand that I
will be able to have those feelings by working on what really means to me and not feel frustrated
it. I am looking into my strengths to understand that I have the knowledge that I need to reach to
my goal and been capable to work on those. There's a lot of weakness that I have, and the worst
is that I need to get an approval to believe that I can do a good job. The opportunities that I have
is that with hard work and believing on me. I need to roll playing with my co-workers that way I
will not be afraid when it comes to talk to the customers. My threat is that I need to overcome
that obstacle of thinking that I can't do it. There's a lot of steps to follow for me to reach to my
goal and not to desperate myself easy.
WEEK 3 DQ 1
The specific element that I addressed on my Week 2 assignment that I would like feedback on
would be slowly taking step by step out of my comfort zone. If there any effective ways for more
success? I've always had a difficult time, especially during my time in middle school and
throughout high school. For some time now I've always wanted to change my habits and be more
outgoing. I want to able to not to overthink and stop myself from forcing me back into my shell.
After reviewing my Week 2 assignment, it has been beneficial. Listing my opportunities helped
open my eyes to some qualities that I must take time to work out, like stepping out of my
comfort zone and being confidence in myself. The first things I could do to start improving these
qualities would start communicating with new people and learning not to be embarrassed to ask
for help.
The necessary adjustments that I'm willing to make in Week 4 are strictly follow my schedules
and reaching out when I don't understand the meaning of the assignment. Sometimes my work
time and school time doesn't align with each other. I'm still trying to work out a schedule that
would be very helpful and so I won't really stress about deadlines or anything. Sometimes I get
sidetracked if I don't understand but I'll try to reach out or even ask my family for help.
WEEK 3 DQ 2
I chose this article because it is a simple concept but is very valuable in the understanding of the
learning process, also it explains the learning mindset on a psychological level. I contest with the
breakdown it gives with three simple ways to construct the way we can adapt to learning.
Organization is the root of learning new things and adds structure to the desired goals. The
thinking or brainstorming process is also broken down to a few easy questions that decide on
whether the material has been comprehended. Meta cognition is defined as "how do we know
what we know?'', and it helps with problem solving after learning has occurred. I also reflected
on myself, and classes I have taken and paid attention to but didn't fully grasp the concept even
after listening to the instructions. Meta cognition is different from the ideals in chapter seven but
correlates with asking ourselves ''How am I doing?'', which then leads to the adjustment process
and changing things to learn better. This will help my progression through higher education and
as well as provide ways to improve my career in project management. Applying these learning
principles and reflecting on the ways I handle things at work will have a positive effect on my
future handlings of projects. I plan to sit down with colleagues and ask them to enlighten me on
their own mental processing of management styles.

WEEK 4 DQ
I found this project somewhat challenging in that my areas of opportunities didn't feel like
something I could really get help from an online source such as SSC, but it also helped me think
outside of the box and realize there are tools and resources on there that I can use and utilize. I
would appreciate any feedback on my section of "assertiveness".
I feel I did much better this week at being more prepared and staying on top of my assignments!
I was prepared for technical issues I may run into (and I did), and I made sure not to
procrastinate like I would normally be tempted to do. I noticed in doing this, I felt much less
stressed and overwhelmed. I also felt that I could focus better on each assignment by applying
my planning and organizing skills. I will continue to apply this going into Week 5.

WEEK4 DQ 2
A common mindset that I've seen in a lot of my friends and family is "I know that I can't do
this". I always kind of giggle when I hear this because the only person limiting you is you. When
saying that phrase, you limit yourself to comfort and stick to be afraid of stepping out of that and
seeing what else is there for you. There are multiple ways you can be pulled out of this mindset
or at least to have you stop saying this phrase. This phrase usually looks at the mistakes and
shows that your afraid of the mistakes that may happen if you mess up. See though, making
mistakes and valuing them as learning opportunities will very much help. Seeing your mistakes
as a way of learning our valuing them will allow you to let yourself grow. Another one is
acknowledging and embracing those imperfections, like mistakes. Embracing them shows you
that not all mistakes are bad or should be looked down upon. Just because you make a mistake or
think you can't do something; shouldn't mean you need to be looked down upon.

WEEK 5 DQ 1
I can use Instrumental support that is what I am currently using with my spouse to reach my
goals. My goals take a lot of time. It is hard to juggle school, work and the house but having a
good support system makes it easier for me to focus on my end goals. My family and my
boyfriend provide emotional support. I think that it will be important for me to find informational
support to get a perspective from someone who is already in the career path I want to be in.
Something that I really took from the article was surrounding myself with like-minded people. I
think over time I have learned this is very important to do. I think that being in a group of people
who you want to be like or who are striving towards the same thing makes you work harder on
your own goals.
WEEK 5 DQ 2
Looking over the different NACE competencies I have selected leadership and
professionalism/work ethic as my strong suits. Leadership supports me professionally by
standing out from others and that escalates into receiving better opportunities. I take pride in my
work and showing fortitude even when I may not be the subject matter expert which is important
as a leader. I am not afraid to take charge and accept more responsibilities and that also is a
positive trait under leadership. This directly correlates to my other strong suit of work ethic and
going the extra mile is something I always do. I abide by the principle of doing the right thing
even when no one is watching, and it always pays off. As a project manager leadership is
necessary in the role and I would not be in this position if it wasn't for past examples of taking
charge. I do not approach every task the same way and I try to learn from others in the process,
but I maintain professionalism and voice my opinion always. UAGC has so many valuable
resources and the two I plan to take advantage of are the Vets Program (dept of labor) and Job
Search. I currently do not use LinkedIn and I plan to use the information and help to utilize that
platform for networking. I need to push myself into the social/professional networking platforms
to learn and open up more doors for myself. Striving to complete my degree and using the career
readiness resources during the process will set me up for future success.
