QUESTION: PREPARE A RISK ASSESSMENT OF ANY WORKING PLACE

A risk assessment is a systematic process of identifying, evaluating, and managing

potential risks associated with electrical systems, equipment, and practices in a
workplace or environment. The goal of conducting a risk assessment in electrical
safety is to prevent electrical hazards, minimize the risk of electrical accidents and
injuries, and ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations.
A risk assessment is simply a careful examination of what, in your work could cause
harm to people so that you can weight up whether you have taken enough precautions
or should do more to prevent harm

Steps for risk assessments

1. Identify the hazards associated with the task and the electrical system, or electrical
process involved (example: shock hazard risk; arc flash hazard risk).
2. Identify the electrical work or any work to be performed within the system or
process.
3. Define the possible failure modes that result in exposure to hazards and the
potential resultant harm.
4. Assess the severity of the potential injury from the hazards.
5. Determine the likelihood of the occurrence for each hazard.
6. Define the level of risk for the associated hazard.
7. If the level of risk is not acceptable, identify the additional measures or corrective
actions to be taken. Example: wear appropriate PPE and if the risk too great, do not
perform the task.
