Purpose
To equip the learner with basic educational statistical, test construction and evaluation skills for
use in teaching profession

Expected learning outcomes


At the end of the course the learner should be able to:
1. Explain concepts in statistics, Testing and measurement
2. Discuss evaluation modes in an educational program
3. Discuss qualities of good tests plus other measuring instruments
4. Prepare and use a table of specification (test blue print) in test construction
5. Construct reliable and valid classroom tests
6. Present, analyse, and interpret test results using a variety of statistical techniques
7. Recommend action based on interpretation of test scores

Course Content
Definition of basic concepts in statistics , Introduction to statistics, levels of measurements,
modes of evaluation, quality of a test, table of specification , measurement techniques, item
formats, Item analysis and interpretation of test scores

Course Assessment
CATS (2) - 20%, (I) assignment 10% = 30%
End Semester exams = 70%
