I. Lesson Title

Organizes and Interprets Data Presented In a Line Graph

II. MELCS

Organizes and Interprets Data Presented In a Line Graph

III. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

 Organizes data in tabular form and presents them in a line graph.

(M5SP-IVg-2.5)

 Interprets data presented in different kinds of line graphs. (single to

double-line graph) (M5SP-IVh-3.5)

IV. KEY CONCEPTS:

A graph is a diagram that represents the relationship and variations

between two or more factors or functions. Mainly by manes of a series of
connected points, bars, curves, or lines.

Data are easily analyzed if they are organized in a graph form. In this
lesson you will be able to learn about the one kind of graph the line graph.

A line graph gives a clear picture of collected data. It is a kind of graph

used to show trends or changes over a period of time. It uses a grid made up of
horizontal and vertical lines where data represented by dots are plotted and then
connected by a line.

How to construct a line graph?

1. Draw a grid consisting of horizontal and vertical lines intersecting each

other in a graphing paper. The grid should be big enough to accommodate
the data. Label the intersection point as zero.
2. Label the horizontal and vertical axis with numbers starting from zero.
Write the name of the data represented by the number in both axis.
3. Locate the point each pair of data in the grid. Mark it with a dot.
4. Connect each dot with lines so as to have a clear view of the data.
5. Give your interpretation of the data.

Study the scores Ralph got in Math in the table.

V. PROCESS QUESTIONS:

Based on the graph, answer the following questions:

1) How many tests did Ralph have in Math?

2) What was the highest score he obtained? lowest?
3) What was his score in the first test?
4) In what tests did he get a score of 80?
5) In which test did he get the lowest score?
VI. ACTIVITY/IES

ACTIVITY 2

Answer these questions based on the line graph.

1. What was Romme’s lowest score? Highest score?

2. In what test did he get the lowest score? Highest score?
3. How many quizzes in all were recorded?
4. In how many quizzes did he get score in the line of 7? In the in line of 8?
5. What does the line graph show about Rommel’s quizzes in Math? Did he pass
or fail? Did he show improvement or not?

VII. REFLECTIONS / GENERALIZATIONS:

A line ________ gives a clear picture of collected data. It is a kind of graph

used to show trends or changes over a period of time. It consists of ______
where the data are plotted with the use of dots connect by lines.
