Nora Stanton Barney Blatch;
Was Born on September 30,
1883 – January 18, 1971) was
an English-born American civil
engineer, and suffragist.
Barney was among the first
women to graduate with an
engineering degree in United
States. Given an ultimatum to
either stay a wife or practice
engineering she chose
engineering. She was the
granddaughter of Elizabeth
Cady Stanton

Suzanna Arundhati Roy (born 24
November 1961) is an Indian author
best known for her novel The God of
Small Things (1997), which won
the Booker Prize for Fiction in 1997 and
became the best-selling book by a non-
expatriate Indian author.She is also a
political activist involved in human
rights and environmental causes.

Roy began writing her first novel, The

God of Small Things, in 1992,
completing it in 1996. The book is
semi-autobiographical and a major part
captures her childhood experiences
in Aymanam
