Bury the Head in Sand

EXT. GARDEN -DAY
Two boys are playing outside in their garden. One is digging
in the ground and seems to find something, they come over to
the camera to show it.
CUT TO:

INT. LIVING ROOM -DAY

The same clip in black and white on a tv as the shot slowing
moves to show a group of teens sitting watching the TV as one
plays with a similar looking stone object to what the boy
had.
ABBY
See I told you I had seen it before
MADELINE
That doesn't make finding a
deformed rock in a charity shop any
cooler idiot
A shadow is seen passing the window, Danny turns to look just
as it disappears before turning back towards his friends
clearly thinking it was nothing. Humming can be heard.
CUT TO:

INT. DOORWAY - CONTINUOUS

Slow steps like knocking are heard as the teens approach
talking loudly about if the rock is cool or not. No one seems
to have heard the knocks but Danny who ignores them.
DANNY
Well it was nice seeing this
amazing discovery but my dad's car
is outside and I gotta...
Knocking is faintly heard
ABBY
Ok ok we'll stop, have a nice night
maybe go to sleep for once though
you look more nervous then usual
Danny laughs it off as he looks around
DANNY
Yeah just thought I heard something

The girls clearly don't believe him. As the shot shows the
sky
CUT TO:

EXT. HOUSE - NIGHT

A wolf howling can be heard in the background.
MATCH CUT TO: LIGHT WHERE MOON WAS

INT. ABBY'S ROOM - CONTINUOUS

The head is seen on a side table as it suddenly gets pulled
away by an invisible force. It hits a wall which wakes Abby.
ABBY
(Sleepily)
Hello.... is anyone there?
Abby gets up to walk around and when her back is to the
window a small rock/pebble is thrown at it making her turn
around quickly and look out the window. Nothing is there just
darkness.
ABBY (CONT'D)
Strange
She lies down

OVERHEAD SHOT OF ABBY GOING TO SLEEP

FADE TO BLACK.

INT. ABBY'S ROOM - DAY

An alarm sounds suddenly and Abby shoots up in her bed
quickly. Everything is the same as last night except the head
is sitting on a bookshelf now.

INT. HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS

Abby hops whilst putting her shoe on as she is trying to
message at the same time
MATCH CUT TO: TREE
 3.

EXT. WOODS - CONTINUOUS

Abby walks up to the other two teens and sits pulling sweets
out of her bag to share with the others
A woman starts to walk up to them, Danny is the only one to
take notice and turn around. He stands up never looking away
from her. He starts walking towards her.
The two other teens start to realise that something is wrong
and try to get Danny's attention in various ways. They then
notice the goat hooves and point to them laughing.
The lady appears to be leading Danny away from the group so
Abby grabs his arm to pull him back from leaving their group.
The lady attempts to grab Danny's arm but fails as Abby and
Madeline look in horror at a ghostly dead looking face.
All three teens start running to get away, Abby still holding
onto Danny as he starts to become more aware of his
surroundings. They run through the trees.
MATCH CUT TO: TREE

EXT. STREET - CONTINUOUS

The three teens are still running as they enter Abby's house,
they all stop and look around before going to close all the
curtains and check door locks.
As they argue Danny spots the head on a shelf and goes to
pick it up the other two notice and stare as he grabs it
before turning around.
MADELINE
We have to get rid of it.
ABBY
What why? It's just a deformed rock
like you said
MADELINE
I've read enough horror stories
that right there has to be the
problem
A bang sounds as they look down to see a small rock rolling
on the floor as they all turn to the direction it came from
they see the lady standing in one of the windows through a
slight gap in the curtains.
ABBY
What do we do with it then?

DANNY
We could break it that always works
in movies right?
MADELINE
No what that could be a prison and
breaking it could free the spirit,
we need to create physical distance
between us and it
ABBY
Throw it in the river? Then the
distance will only grow with time
MADELINE
Yeah, but we should probably start
running
They all look at the window as the curtains start opening.
JUMP CUT TO:

EXT. WOODS - MOMENTS LATER

The teens running through the woods fast which makes Madeline
trip over into a tree before rushing to get up now covered in
scratches. Abby is pulling her to get up as the lady
approaches them somehow seeming to only be walking.
FADE TO:

EXT. RIVER - MOMENTS LATER

The teens are now just running up to the river as they
realise Danny is staring at the lady who has stopped in the
tree line
