On the 16th day of May 2023, we had to attend an event under our
subject, Integrated Image Enhancement and Career Preparation. It is a
seminar for career preparation entitled Achieving Professional Image in the
Global Perspective. It started with a prayer and a flag ceremony.
The seminar started around 1:30 p.m. with our guest speaker, Mr.
John Paul Lanot. I was impressed with his unique introduction and skills in
making his business speech interesting and enjoyable. He is known as the
president and CEO of Pino Concepts, Inc. However, what caught my attention
was his passion for voice acting. It's nice to see a person who is enjoying the
path that they chose. Anyway, our topic at that time was an entrepreneurial
mindset, and he tackled maximizing the things that we already had. At first,
Mr. Lanot asked us the difference between expense and investment. Many of
us said that when we talk about expenses, it is all about money, purchases,
and liabilities. In short, it is the outflow of a resource. Investment refers to a
product or asset bought to make money. Investing is a successful approach to
using your money and could boost your financial status. In his seminar, he
shared with us the 10 resources that we may use to make money. The first
one is location. Using the location and its natural resources, you can acquire
an immediate market. I remembered his example about this: when someone
lives near a beach that has a lot of coconut trees, that person can make a
living out of it. Selling coconut juice and other coconut products would be a
huge hit. The next one is Time I am somehow guilty of this one because I tend
to procrastinate, which will lead to failure in the future. Mr. Lanot said that
we should say no to multitasking. According to Parkinson's Law, tasks take
longer to complete the more time you give them. The "due later, then do later
mindset" must change to the "do now, then rest later" mindset to avoid
procrastinating and stressing after. People need to be skilled at time
management, especially in the work industry. Time management may be
improved on all levels with the use of techniques like the Pomodoro
technique, the 80-20 rule, and checklists.
