SMU- UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT, SMU
Assisted in the completion of the math curriculum in the West Dallas STEM school. My work consisted of analyzing the Illustrative
Mathematics curriculum and developing the 7th-grade math lesson unit guides in accordance with the IM curriculum. I was to assure
that all the following material and information were included in the lesson guides: Unit learning description, TEKS, lesson objectives,
outline activities, PPT slides, teacher presentation materials. In addition to the incorporation of the materials, I had to identify the
corresponding Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards for every individual 7th grade and Algebra 1 lesson.
Moreover, I had to analyze the correspondence of the TEKS in accordance with the pre-set TEKS for the lessons in the provided
academic year mapping of the West Dallas STEM school. I was to determine if the lesson or parts of the lesson, met the expected
TEKS. Once completing the identification of the TEKS, I mapped the TEKS in a spreadsheet and marked which lessons addressed
which of the TEKS.
