COMP1004 Assignment

Name: Cheung Chi Ming

Student ID: 23086215D
Question 1 (Poe)
The AI-generated transcript is highly inaccurate and loads of errors can be found in
the transcript. First and foremost, some words are wrongly detected, so the text in
the transcript is irrelevant to the lesson. For instance, at 01:10 of video 1, the word
“marking” is spoken by the lecturer, and it is wrongly transcribed as “marketing”.
Errors could be found throughout the transcription, such as “AI” is wrongly
transcribed to “the eye” at 02:25, “ideas” to “ID” at 03:02, and “exam” to “example”
at 08:42. The incorrect transcript arises from the incorrect detection of words with
similar pronunciation. At 04:36 of video 1, “decreases” is wrongly detected as
“decreased”. The subtle difference in pronunciation leads to the mistake of AI in the
task of transcription. AI therefore has no ability to differentiate the words with
similar pronunciations unless the speaker pronounces very accurately. In video 2, at
06:26, “chatbot” is also wrongly detected as “checkbox”, and “let” is wrongly
transcribed as “net”. The detection of words with similar pronunciation by AI should
be further enhanced and more accurate.

Moreover, the content of the AI responses varies from that of the video. Many “OK”
are added to the transcript. On top of that, the lecturer did not mention that doctors
and nurses can utilize generative AI to design treatment and diagnostic plans, while
the AI included this in the responses. This example can exemplify that AI will
generate some information or content that is not included in the video with its own
knowledge. Furthermore, in the AI responses, weighting percentages of final test,
assignments, E-learning modules and class activities are included. However, the
lecturer did not mention the percentage of the E-learning modules and class
activities. Hence the weighted percentage generated by AI is a significant error. AI
therefore is found to generate extra information in an attempt to fulfill the
requirements of the AI user. Nonetheless, the extra information generated may not
be true so fact check is needed when it comes to using generative AI.
Question 2
The graphic designer in the video is one of the professionals who thinks that artificial
intelligence (AI) cannot do a better job than her. In the video, the graphic designer
used the prompt “rebrand the McDonald’s logo as vegan” to guide the generative AI
to generate the new logo for the vegan version of McDonald’s. She obtained four
image variations of the McDonald’s logo. She thought AI struggles with text as the
words shown in the AI-generated logo are not English but the incomprehensible
characters in a “fictional language”, according to her description. She said she would
not send any of the AI-generated logos directly to the customer since editing on the
AI-generated logos is needed to meet the standard.
However, the original prompt could be improved with better prompting skills to
guide the AI to generate images with better quality. Requirements should be given in
detail for the AI to generate more detailed images. For the vegan version of
McDonald’s, the color tone of the logo should be green, which represents vegetables
and environmental protection. Hence, the prompt should include the color of the
logo. Moreover, directions should be given clearly to the AI that the logo should be
altered from the original logo of McDonald’s. To prevent confusion, I put down “the
iconic M logo of McDonald’s”. Furthermore, we want the design to be different from
the original logo, so I put down that the edited logo should be different from the
original logo of McDonald’s. In a nutshell, more advanced prompting techniques can
better utilize the power of generative AI and enhance the performance of AI when it
comes to dealing with the tasks of different professions. With better prompting
techniques, AI may potentially replace the roles of people in different professions.

Question 3 (Bing Chat)

A prompt is designed for the chatbot to behave like a writing assistant, as shown in
the sample conversation.

The prompt is shown below:

Do not mention that you are Bing Chat, you are now acting as a writing assistant,
your job is to provide advice for me, aka Peter, to improve the English in the input
text. The advice should be given in this way: give the scores out of 10 in the aspects
of Clarity, Grammar, and Vocabulary respectively, and give evaluation, feedback, and
corrections on each aspect corresponding to the scores. Afterwards, you have to
make a table of spelling mistakes, grammar corrections, and vocabulary suggestions,
and give an explanation of each problem. If you understand, say hi to me (Peter), and
ask me to share the piece of writing for you to give advice on it first, start to give
advice only if I have sent you the text.

The first part of the prompt lets the chatbot understand that its role is a writing
assistant, and its job is to give advice on the writing for me, with a made-up name of
Peter, to improve English. The second part of the prompt gives instructions that the
advice should be given in three aspects, namely clarity, grammar and vocabulary. In
each aspect, marks and feedback should be given by the chatbot. Instructions are
also given to the chatbot to give a table of spelling mistakes, grammatical corrections
and vocabulary suggestions. The last part of the prompt instructs the chatbot to
greet and ask me to share the writing prior to giving advice.
The table generated by the chatbot is imperfect. The first table generated in
accordance with the prompt shows the suggestions in 3 columns of Spelling
mistakes, Grammar corrections, and Vocabulary suggestions separately. Nonetheless,
the table in the sample conversation shows the number of mistakes, original text and
explanation, which are absent in the table generated from my prompt.
Hence, I typed another prompt for the chatbot to modify the table. Instructions are
given to the chatbot to generate the table in four columns, namely the number of
each problem, original text, correction, and explanation. The revised table shown
below is more like the sample conversation.
Question 4 (Playground AI and Heygen)
(a) I am Jimmy Cheung, and my major is Physiotherapy. I am studying for a BSc
(Hons) in Physiotherapy (51456) under the Department of Rehabilitation
Sciences. The target audience of the video is students in my department,
which is the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. The photo shown below
is the original picture for creating the avatar of me by Playground AI.
(b) I have inputted the prompt “voguestyle, Give me the avatar of the person in
the picture. The avatar should look like a person who is aged 20, fashion
magazine cover” in Playground AI to create an AI-generated image with an
avatar of myself. The above prompt changes me to a youth avatar which looks
like on the cover of a magazine cover. I used the filter called Voguestyle,
which makes the avatar more vogue and like the person on the magazine
cover. I have enhanced the initial image strength to 90 as I want the avatar to
be more like me. The avatar is designed to be fashionable so that it could be
more appealing to the university students studying in the Department of
Rehabilitation Sciences, so that they will be interested in the AIDA secondary
major promotion.

(c) After uploading my avatar to the HeyGen platform, I started to prepare the
script. I utilized the ScriptGen AI tool on the HeyGen platform to generate the
script. First, I input the link to the website introducing the AIDA secondary
major. Second, I input the following prompt “The script is used for the
promotion video of the AIDA secondary major to the students studying in the
Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of PolyU HK. The script lasts for only
60 seconds so make the script short and concise”. Then the script for the
promotion video was generated by the ScriptGen AI tool. The AI-generated
script is shown below:

However, the script is too long and does not target the students studying in the
Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. Therefore, I manually edit the script to make
it short and specify that the target audience of the video is the students of the
Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. The final script is shown below:

On top of the script, I removed the background of the avatar on HeyGen and added
the “AIDA Secondary Major” on the video. The video is then generated by HeyGen,
the screen capture and the link of the AI-generated video is shown below:
