Album covers are one of various ways to communicate expression in an artistic form.

They allow musicians to convey a story without incorporating words. It also sets a theme. This

particular album was released in May 2022. Ever since its release, the album cover art became

very well-known. The meaning behind this illustration represents yearning for a special person’s

presence. This cover was tied to the essence of the 2022 summer. The creator of this album

cover, through the use of scaling, scenery, and color, emphasizes the emotion this soundtrack

creates.

To commence, the focal point in this album cover is a striking, centered, red hued heart.

This heart is not any ordinary organ, it is composed of limbs being a pair of arms and legs. The

creator of this illustration also included one eye on the heart and an upside down smile. The

personification of this is to represent how a person perceives life and processes emotion with

their heart. They go around experiencing life through emotion. People's actions are controlled by

what they are feeling on the inside. Whether it is shown or not, emotions steer a person’s

mentality. It is the main source of raw feeling. Happiness, sadness, anger, all originate in that one

specific spot. The sorrowful, one-eyed heart is portraying how people deem life through one

cracked lens when undergoing an unpleasant experience. The world seems gloomy, although it

might be a sunny day, the heart spectates life through one lens. Everything that once brought

gratitude and excitement, such as summer, is now a drag. Hence, the one singular eye. The heart

in itself speaks for the essence the album is creating. It is the key component, or focal point, the

visual of the album is generating for its audience.

Another key component in this illustration is the background of the cover. Envision a

beautiful sunset in the summer by the ocean. Dolphins splashing at a distance and a flock of birds

fluttering in the wind ahead. The warm breeze hitting the skin and the scent of nature's salty

waters. That is the feeling being conveyed when viewing the scenery. At first glance, this

landscape is breathtaking and seems peaceful, but it has plenty more significance. The landscape

spans from dry sand, to a beautiful blue ocean, to a colorful sunset. Yet, the heart is placed on the

arid sand. This landscape grid is a metaphorical way to portray a healing process. The grainy

sand represents the feeling of isolation and self loathing. Which is the primal stage of heartbreak.

Meanwhile the two dolphins, symbolizing a content relationship, splash at a distance in the warm

ocean current. The ocean is signifying peace, or self-acceptance, the secondary stage. The group

of three birds, representing friendship, are migrating and keeping each other company. The sky

stands for a new coming, or peace with the situation, the final stage of a break-up. The scaling of

this landscape, from the heart's perspective on the sand, makes it seem as if love is out of reach.

The lively animals, relationship and friendship, also seem at a distance. The heart feels stranded

on this island of loneliness. There is a process to get from one feeling to another.

Similarly, the color palette reoccurring in the album cover’s scenery holds a great deal of

symbolism. Each color holds different significance and represents a tie to an emotion held in

people or the heart. Alike to the scaling of the landscape, it symbolizes a healing process. The

colorful scenery for each land setting ties in with the stages of heartbreak. Beginning with the

primal feeling, the sand is a red-orange hue. These mix of colors signify self-pity mixed with

anger. The endless overthinking that comes with a heartbreak of contemplating what went

wrong. After grieving over the mishap, the scenery spans to the beautiful light blue ocean. The

blue hue symbolizes inner-peace and general acceptance with the situation. The ocean seems to

spread for a great distance until it meets with the sky. The sunset that floods the album cover is

colored with a pink hue. Pink represents love and the ability to feel that emotion once more. It

symbolizes the reestablished hope of being able to go out and reciprocate that feeling again.

Although, it might have felt as if those emotions were no longer competent to exist, they are. It

just took going through these stages of emotions to relive what was once that forgotten feeling.

In brief, the album cover of Un Verano Sin Ti composes the elements of scaling, scenery,

and color, to emphasize the essence of the 2022 summer. Although illustrations similar to these

seem simple at first glance, they take a great quantity of thought. Visual artifacts are created with

the intention to create deeper meaning. They go beyond the surface and contain a story within.

Such as the symbolization with the chosen color palettes portraying emotions. Continuing with

minor details, such as the scaling of the landscapes representing a healing process, and the

personification of entities. Analyzation is significant to identify the story incorporated in the

visuals.
