DEPARTMENT OF AGADA TANTRA AVUM VIDHI VAIDYAKA

DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE:

Department deals with study of toxins of various origin including animate


and inanimate in all aspects. It also concerns the medical aspect of law and
legal aspect of medicine.
Water pollution & air pollution are today‟s biggest confronts. Guidelines of the
various techniques mentioned in Agadtantra, helps to reduce toxic effects of
the industrial remnants and waste poisonous gases and chemicals, hazardous
effects of all type of chemicals and drug-induced toxicity.
Vidhivaidyak (Forensic Medicine) too, plays a vital role in guarding the safety
of each individual in the community. It also ensures that any accused person is
not unjustly condemned. It also deals with legal aspects of medical practice
that play a vital role in this age when the CPA act is well-accepted. Department
offers following courses BAMS, MD (Ayu), PhD(Ayu)

MUSEUM:

The museum display includes pictorial depiction of various aspects of forensic


medicine and toxicology (poisonous specimens & their antidotes) in the form of
charts and pinups so as to facilitate quick understanding and recollection.

Museum also displays various types of weapons and models of Forensic


Medicine.

UNIQUE FEATURES:

 A weekly group discussion in the form of seminar and journal club is


conducted for Post Graduate students wherein individual inputs, current
updates and faculty opinion help to achieve scientific knowledge.
 The department conducts field visits annually to upraise UG and PG
students of practical approach to the subject viz. Forensic Science Lab –Pune
and Mumbai, Rajiv Gandhi Snake Park, Katraj Pune, Sessions Court
Shivajinagar Pune.
 Agadtantra OPD & IPD commenced on 2nd May 2017 and has seen a
steady rise in number of patients suffering from skin diseases, hair problems,
toxicity of various origin etc.

Our alumni Dr. Suryajit H. Pawar is a gold medalist of PG course in 2013.
