Department of Geography
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This tutorial letter contains important guidelines
for the examination.

Dear Student,

The GGH1502 examination will be a timed online multiple-choice questions/quiz examination. The
examination is a closed-book examination; you are not allowed to refer to any source for information
that will assist you in answering the examination questions. You are also not permitted to talk during the
exam, except for when you are calling the support team for assistance. This examination is to be treated
as if it were a venue-based examination.

You will have strictly 120 minutes (2 hours) to answer 40 multiple-choice questions for 40 marks. The
final total of the examination will be converted to 100%. The platform on which the examination will be
written is yet to be confirmed. We will announce it on the module site through the Announcements tool.
Steps regarding how to access the site will be shared with you in due course, as well as documents that
you should read in preparation for any technical challenge that you may encounter during the
examination session. You will be given an opportunity to write a mock examination so that you may
familiarise yourselves with the site at least seven days before the date of the examination.

Please note that The Invigilator app will be used in the GGH1502 examination. It is compulsory for
every student registered in this module to install The Invigilator app and use it during the examination.
Further details and instructions on how to use The Invigilator app will be made available to you through
the Announcements tool as soon as we receive the guidelines from the University.

On the day of the examination, you will have to follow the same steps as you will have followed in the
mock examination, except this time, you must sign into The Invigilator app first before you start your
examination. Unfortunately, we do not have a trial of The Invigilator app to use in the mock exam.

If you encounter a challenge during the examination, take screenshots as evidence and e-mail or call the
relevant contact persons – this information will be shared with you. A support team will be available
online for the duration of the examination. The module lecturers will also be available if you need
clarification on a question in the exam. For any other challenges that you may have, you will have to
contact the exam support team whose contact information will be shared with you.

When all the above information is available to us, it will be posted on the module site through the
Announcements tool. Kindly ensure that you frequently visit the module site for the module updates.

For exam admission, you need to have submitted at least one assignment. Be reminded that
assignments contribute 20% towards the final mark and the examination contributes 80%.

The date of the examination will be communicated officially to you by the University through your
personal examination timetable.
