General Instructions and Guidelines for Tests and Examinations

1. Timed assessments must be started at the scheduled starting time. If this is not
possible the student must attend the Exam Support to explain the reason and be
given permission for a valid reason to write later. If the student does not start the
Examination, or join the Exam Support within 30 mins of the start time it will be
considered an Examination Irregularity.

2. All timed assessments must be written together with The Invigilator PC App. Any
assessment done without The Invigilator will be considered an Assessment
Irregularity and be awarded 0 for the entire test or examination.

3. The Invigilator will record student behavior during the assessment and flag any
deviations that may negatively impact Academic Integrity. The behaviors
recorded include, but are not limited to the following:

● Student identification for the entire assessment.


● Audio recordings during the assessment.
● Webcam recordings during the assessment.
● GPS plotting of student movement and proximity to other students during the
assessment.
● Screenshots of screen activity.
● Out-of-App time : The Invigilator must run together with the Canvas Quiz.The
only apps allowed to be open are The Invigilator and Canvas LMS Quiz Tabs.
Any movement away from these apps will be recorded and considered as an
irregularity.
● Evidence of the use of phones; textbooks, notes or any kind of reference
materials during the Assessment will be flagged.
● Canvas and The Invigilator must be open for the full duration of the assessment.
● It will record the completion and submission of the Quiz and the data upload.

4. On completion and submission of the Quiz (including the Upload Quiz) in


Canvas:
● Move to The Invigilator App. The“Finish Assessment” button must be
clicked to confirm that you are finished.
● Click the “Finish Button”.
● Do not close The Invigilator App until you receive the “Well Done” window
stating that the “upload was successful”.
● If this data is not uploaded it will be considered an Assessment Irregularity
resulting in a 0 being awarded for the entire test or examination.

5. All work submitted must be the student’s own original work. No copying of any
sources or sharing of any answers is allowed via any medium. Any Academic
Irregularities will result in zero marks being awarded for the relevant
test/examination.

6. Communication in any form during a timed assessment is not allowed.


Communication may only take place between a student writing a timed
assessment who makes use of a reader or a scribe, and with team members in
the Exam Support.

7. No discussion, sharing of questions and/or answers regarding an examination or


test may take place at any time on the date (24 hours) of the scheduled
examination. Any such communication will be regarded as a communication
irregularity and will result in a zero mark for any person sending or receiving the
message. If this communication occurs in a group, all members of the group will
receive zero for the relevant examination.

8. Cell phones may only be used for valid scanning and uploading of hand-written
documents or for entering the Exam Support. Cell phone use detected for any
other purpose will result in a communication irregularity and this will result in zero
being awarded for the examination irrespective of the subject of the
communication.

9. If you encounter any problems (load shedding, technical, question related


queries, etc) with the test/examination, you are required to attend the Exam
Support immediately (The link will be in your test/exam). Do not contact any other
students or teachers.

10. If you cannot attend the Exam Support Session, please send an email to the
Family Portal using the link: https://teneoeducation.com/familyportal/ during the
examination. Please note attending the Exam Support is the desired route to
follow for assistance. Assistance via email may not be “real time”. Please be
aware that assistance can only be granted during the time that this examination
is running. The body of your email must include:
● Your full Canvas name;
● grade;
● subject;
● language of tuition;
● school; (SACAI; IEB or BIC);
● contact number and
● details of the problem encountered.

11. No emails, inboxes, images, or uploads into the comments section of any quiz
will be accepted as valid. Only handwritten / drawn uploads will be accepted via
the Upload Quiz provided it is done in the correct time frame.

12. Upload Quiz:

● The upload of specific answers will be done in a separate upload quiz which
can only be accessed once the question quiz is submitted.

● Only questions that require an upload will be accepted. Uploaded answers to


non-upload questions will be considered an exam irregularity and zero will be
awarded for these questions.

● Scanned handwritten or hand drawn graphs, diagrams and scripts must be


submitted in PDF format only. No computer generated/typed graphs, diagrams
or answers will be accepted.

● Quizzes which provide space for typed answers must be done in the quiz. No
uploaded answers for these questions will be accepted.

● The upload quiz must be opened immediately after submitting the question
quiz. If the upload quiz is not opened within 5 mins of the question quiz closing
it will be considered an examination irregularity and the script will be awarded
zero.

● All uploads must occur within the examination time and in the "Upload Quiz".
13. If a problem is experienced during a quiz where the student is unable to type in
the answer boxes provided, the student must attend the Exam Support to get
permission to deviate from the required format and to gain access to the Upload
Quiz.

14. Please note that once you have submitted the quiz, the system will
automatically grade some of your questions. This is not your final mark. Your
mark will be updated. Your teacher will be responsible for marking the quiz and
the final mark will be released after the marking process has taken place.

15. Medical certificates must be submitted within 24 hours of any missed


assessment.

16. By clicking on the Take Quiz button, you have accepted the regulations listed
above together with the specific subject instructions included in the Quiz.

17. The only way that we can guarantee assistance for any problem encountered, is
if you join the Exam Support during the examination time.
