SPELLING BEE 2023-2024

Rogers’ Spelling Bees are open to all students in grades K-8. There will be a school champion for
elementary school (K-5) and middle school (6-8).
HISD’s spelling bees are held with the Scripps National Spelling Bee word lists and rules. All
students who sign-up for Rogers’ spelling bees will be given the Scripps classroom/school
spelling bee word list after the school’s enrollment in the Fall. All studying will be done on the
student’s time; there are no after-school practices.
Students will take a written preliminary bee November 3rd. Top spelling students will advance
to participate in the school oral spelling bee December 5 (K-5) and 7(6-8) when school winners
will be determined. All written and oral bees follow rules and use word lists provided by Scripps
National Spelling Bee.
Students may now register for the spelling bee until September 14th. Registration information
can be found on the home page of our school website: https://www.houstonisd.org/THRogers
Forms must be turned in by September 14. 2023 to participate in the written bee in November.
Students will receive the spelling bee word list the week of September 18.
