Part 1. READING
A. Pre-reading: Discuss the questions below with your partner.
B. Read the text below. It gives information about ODTÜ campus. Is there anything new to you?
ODTÜ is famous for its beautiful campus. It is in the south-west of the capital of Turkey, Ankara. It is
quite big: the campus area is 4500 hectares, and the forest area is 3043 hectares. The university has
more than 25,000 students. ODTÜ also has a lake called Lake Eymir. It is about 20 kilometers from
the centrum of Ankara. There are a large number of sports
facilities on campus. Students can play tennis, basketball,
football, or they can swim in the olympic-size indoor
swimming pool in winter and in the outdoor swimming pool
in summer. There are also facilities for studying, too. The
library and the silent study rooms in the dormitories are
usually quiet places. There is also a shopping center (Çarşı), and there are a lot of shops there. For
example, there is a stationer’s, a photographer’s and fast food restaurants.
