Final Media Project

Mixed Media Production

By: Sophia Ismini Lemoniatis @Sophiaisminifilms

Outline Of Final Idea

For my final idea in unit 8 I plan to create a mixed media piece experimenting with picture stop
motion and drawing onto them. I intend to do this piece individually, and I decided to use mixed
media as I like the level of freedom it enables me to have, so I can get very creative with it. As I
want my piece to look very colorful and aesthetically pleasing with lots of movement and
creative aspects to it I think that this route would be the best to take. My target audience I will be
aiming this at will be roughly from ages 16-20s as the more creative sided productions are more
appriciated by this age group and they tend to be more invested in this type of production
compared to a lot older or younger people.
Throughout the first seven units of this course I have developed skills from camera work to
editing and planning. The main skills I think I have developed quite well are my editing and my
camera work. In the last unit we did I mainly focused on my editing skills, looking at color
grading and adding different effects. I also learned a lot as I started to use a different software,
therefore learned how to use that and work with it instead of Premier Pro. One of the main skills
I think I will need to develop further is my planning skills. This is due to me not normally
sticking to my planning schedule, and when going into the industry of film, organization is one
particular skill I will need to develop further. Camera work is also something I would like to
experiment and develop further. Although I have worked on part of it I would like to develop it
more, experimenting with different angles and movement to evoke different emotions and
foreshadow in my storylines. Lighting is also something I will need to focus on in this project as
it relates to my research on how the weather effects peoples moods. Lighting will be a very big
part in this production relating to the storyline so focusing on it will help me improve my skills
in this department which I really want to develop further.

Following a storyline I will need to research into my overall concept- that following the idea of
“Seasonal Depression” and “climotography” - how the weather can impact the way people feel
emotionally. I intend to make my production very visually pleasing to the eye, focusing on
lighting and color to create it into also some form of art. I want this piece to mainly focus on a
character in nature outdoors and how that makes people feel, when they connect with the sun and
nature together. I think I will focus more towards sunny weather compared to bad rainy weather
as I would like to mainly look at the positive side to it, and when focusing on lighting the sun
will be out and the lighting will be prominent.

I think I could have the possibility of winning this competition with my mixed media production
as it will allow me to be very creative and experimental with my production, which is something
that this film competition are particularly interested in, as they are looking for films that are
different by me experimenting with Mixed Media it's something different that the judges will be
looking for. With the level of freedom, I have I think it will give me a chance of winning as I can
get as creative, I want which is something I will be doing. Looking at stop motion is something
that not a lot of young developing film makers do, therefore I think it would stand out from the
rest, giving me more of an opportunity of winning the competition.
Legal and Ethical Issues

The legal and ethical issues I may face mainly will be to do with the music I decide to use.
