1. Easy to care and easy to wear is the guiding philosophy on choice of children's wear.
Discuss the significance of this statement as it relates to dress and
human developments.
Easy to care and easy to wear has so far been the leading ideology when it comes to the
choice of children’s wear ,and as highlighted by (Akter Rita, 2018) this is all based on the
considerations of their delicate skin which is easily irritated and can be easily harmed .
The guiding philosophy of "easy to care and easy to wear" emphasizes the practicality
and functionality of children's wear. This assignment delves into the significance of this
philosophy regarding dress and human development, exploring its implications on
children's comfort. According to (The Importance of Comfortable Clothes That Fit - Zen
& Spice, n.d.) , when it comes to children’s wear it is best to prioritize comfort than
style .Comfortable clothing allows children to move freely and play without restriction,
which is crucial for their physical development.
In order to grasp the significance of the statement easy to care and easy to wear as a
guiding philosophy on choice of children’s wear we should first look at the historical
perspectives which made this statement significant as it relates to dress and human
development. According to (Children’s Wear Raiment – A History, n.d.) Even before the
twentieth century though there wasn’t much sex distinction on children’s clothes as they
wore the same kind of garment till they mature, even so easy to wear and easy to care was
priority as the garments in discussion allowed free movement and allowed aeration. In
1800, they stopped swaddling the infants and began in the favour of loose and light
weight garments for their kids to allow maximum freedom and movement. The shift from
the historical part of children’s clothing from just a robe like garment to a more sexual
distinct modern clothes emphasized to more practical and functional designs .This is also
because as children are more energetic and curious , they needed more practical clothes
and designs so that they would never be hurt by the fabrics they wear.
Now we will look at the importance of comfort in children’s clothing .As mentioned in
the introduction children have delicate skins which can be easily affected by fabrics they
can wear. Most of the day children will be playing around and according to(Akter Rita,
2018) children who are comfortable in their clothes will tend to be more involved in
playtime. They will be more social, and they will involve themselves in more diverse
experiences. Also, their emotional health will be more age appropriate. Soft, comfortable,
easy to put on and take off and comparatively loose.the following are the desirable
conditions to when considering children’s clothing non-flammable, lightweight ,non-
irritating. Underclothes should be essentially made of organic fibres and also allow quick
transmission of sweat from skin to environment. These are some of the easy to wear and
easy to care aspects of children’s wear and they also have a good psychological effect on
a child as he/she will be free to move around wherever they may see fit whether in dirt as
their clothes won’t be hard to wash off stains .
Easy to care and easy to wear can also promote self-awareness and independence in a
child and self-care skills. For example clothing with simple closure like Velcro , elastic
waistbands enables children to dress and undress independently thereby encouraging the
development of self-help skills .According to(Dressing.Pdf, n.d.) Easy to care and easy to
wear which is best described as comfortable clothes encourages a sense of dressing in
children which also develops into independence, responsibility and cooperation. This is
attained as children’s wear incorporates front openings so that the child can see and also
 big buttons which are usually sizes of coins or bigger so that the child won’t have any
trouble .According to (Appropriate Clothes for Independence in Dressing, n.d.) through
promoting independence in a child through easy fastenings and ability to self-wear it
leads to the development of confidence .The other significance of easy to wear clothes
can also build confidence in children as they can dress themselves easy and thereby
enforcing a sense of accomplishment and again self-confidence. When kids wear
something, they love or that reflects their personality, it can boost their confidence. It
allows them to showcase who they are and feel comfortable in their own skin. Children's
wear plays a crucial role in fostering their individuality and self-expression. Research by
Lee and Davis (2019) highlights the significance of age-appropriate styles and trends that
allow children to express their unique identities while conforming to social norms. The
easy to wear aspect of this philosophy ensures that clothing does not restrict children's
movement and creative play, enabling them to explore and develop their sense of self
Comfortable clothes also promote hygiene to children in their everyday endeavours. The
easy to care aspect of this philosophy holds significant implications for maintaining good
hygiene practices. Research by White (2021) emphasizes the importance of clothing that
is easy to clean and quick to dry. Machine-washable and durable fabrics simplify the
cleaning process for parents and caregivers, ensuring that children's clothing remains
fresh and hygienic. The ease of care in children's wear supports the prevention of
potential health issues associated with unclean or damp garments .This is because their
clothes are designed in a way that they don’t soil .And because of the fact that children’s
clothes can be washed and remove stains with sometimes little efforts , children can be
educated on how to wash their own clothes as mentioned by (Teach Kids How to Wash

easy to care aspect as it relates to dress and human developments, as the children will
grow up with the ability to wash their own clothes in the future.
Easy to wear and easy to care clothes especially for children will have been treated in a
way that safety becomes the priority. The philosophy of easy to care and easy to wear
aligns with safety considerations in children's clothing. According to Harris (2017),
hazard-free designs that eliminate small buttons, loose strings, or other potential choking
hazards are of paramount importance. Additionally, adhering to safety standards and
using fire-resistant fabrics for sleepwear reduce the risk of accidents and injuries .Safety

In conclusion the guiding philosophy of "easy to care and easy to wear" in children's wear
significantly impacts dress and human development. By prioritizing comfort, promoting
independence, fostering good hygiene practices, ensuring safety, and supporting
individuality, this philosophy contributes to children's physical, emotional, and cognitive
well-being. Providing children with clothing that aligns with this philosophy allows them to
thrive, explore, and develop their unique identities
