BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Discussion of methods

Method of data collection for design processes has been one of the main controversial issues in the field of design research.
The crucial point in this type of research is how to gather valuable and sufficient data without interrupting designers’
activities. Therefore, new and multiple data collection methods were often proposed to penetrate the designer's thinking
process (Petre, Sharp, & Johnson, Citation2006; Pedgley, Citation2007). Acknowledging this issue, we also tried the
experimental process ourselves, and tried it on several undergraduate students. As a result, we observed that designers could
not clearly verbalise what they were doing while they were in the process of developing their new ideas. The designers were
completely immersed in their own work without offering a single word. Therefore, this study did not use only verbal
interview data, but collected data by multiple means – a combination of video recording, interview with visual data, and
sketches – in order to better comprehend the designer's thinking. Over the past century, different clothing styles and
techniques of designing clothes have emerged and have helped shape the way society views clothing. In the past, there were
not many options as to which clothes to wear because of the lack of efficiency when developing them. Up until the Civil War
era, many people were stuck having to wear clothes that didn't fit because custom made clothes were only accessible to the
wealthy. Tailoring and ready-made clothing has changed the way society perceives clothing and has shined light upon new
opportunities for people to express themselves at an affordable price. These new ways of developing and sizing clothing are
drastically changing for the better and are the beginning of something much bigger.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The wearing of clothing is exclusively a human characteristic and is a feature of most human societies. There has always
been some disagreement among scientists on when humans began wearing clothes, but studies involving the evolution of
body lice suggest it started sometime around 170,000 years ago Inspire Yourself. Dressing for success doesn't just
influence outsiders – it also affects you directly. When you dress like a winner, you'll feel like a winner and have the
determination to move forward with confidence. Sharp clothes can work wonders for your own attitude . To encourage
students to think of designing garments for special needs as part of a general design framework, a problem-solving approach
that does not distinguish between functional apparel design and fashion design is presented. A model for assessing user
needs and wants incorporates functional, expressive, and aesthetic (FEA) considerations. Examples of how the, framework
has been used in design projects are presented Suggested uses for the FEA model are offered This concept of clothing's
symbolic and emotional may shed light on the question: Why do people in the same social cultural environment choose
certain clothing styles and not others? Kwon's (1991) research suggests that individuals' clothing choices can be a reflection
of how they feel about themselves, and not only about how they want others to feel about them. Other studies have shown
that individuals reinforce their mood and express their feelings through their clothing (Kallstrom, 2009). Mood can be
altered because the clothes selected may be perceived as fashionable, enhancing individuality and confidence, or providing
physical comfort (Kang et al., 2013). The sample of female shoppers studied by Tiggemann and Lacey (2009) primarily
chose clothes for the positive functions of assurance, fashion, and comfort. Clothing aids to your comfort. It absorbs
perspiration, prevents sudden chills, and acts as a buffer between your body and accidental burns, scratches, and rough
surfaces. The right garments can insulate your body against extremely hot or extremely cold temperatures.

REVIEW RELATED LITERATURE

Clothing Styles and Developments in Clothing Creation Industrialization was a watershed moment in the garment business
since it enabled the manufacturing of handmade apparel as well as the fabrication of varied designs from various textiles.
Furthermore, a shift in the renaissance, both in culture and art, marked the beginning of the production of various clothing
patterns (Vehmas et al., 2018). Different social classes started to have distinct tastes and preferences. The affluent, in
particular, were fascinated by bespoke apparel, which came from tailors with more expertise and innovation. Clothing
designs evolved from more traditional to more liberally fitted suits and ties. Shifts in clothing designs caused by Renaissance
civilization led to advancements in garment fabrication as tailors became more proficient and innovative. Fully prepared
apparel has figured prominently in the widespread manufacture of low-cost garments. Although some may regard ready-
made clothes as a sign of lack of uniqueness, many others regard them as sleek and elegant. Many individuals have
discovered that, while bespoke apparel is not as standard as it once was, it is still far more precise and fits better if a person is
prepared to spend a more significant amount for it. Due to various prevailing fashions and the demand to purchase famous
name-brand apparel, ready-made fashion has permeated society today. This new technique of developing garments is more
economical than any other approach seen yet, and it has had a significant effect on culture.

Latest fashion patterns emerge on a regular basis, and with social media having such an important part in contemporary
society, ideas spread quickly. The only way the apparel business can continue in this day and age is to mass-produce popular
things in current society. Due to the general way contemporary media is structured, there is next to no place for any other
style of apparel creation in society today (Braham, 2017). Due to various people’s need for title apparel and popular trends,
price no longer plays a significant role in how clothing is created. For this approach, it is just a question of time before
handmade clothes become obsolete.

The rising use of digital technologies has led to the development of complex dress designs based on people’s socioeconomic
levels. Technology has significantly aided in the production of hitherto unseen garment innovations. Newer computer-aided
design software is being developed on a daily basis with the goal of generating new designs that will meet the rising need for
a variety of clothing styles. The high degree of competition in the garment business, in particular, has resulted in increased
innovation for artisans and artists attempting to meet the need for new trends.

In summary, industrialization signaled the beginnings of the creation of custom-made apparel. The revolution was
accountable for humanity’s distinct classes, with the affluent exhibiting their indifference levels by the garments they wore.
The need for more sophisticated fashions prompted clothes dressmakers and artisans to be more creative and innovative.
Customizing and fully prepared garments have revolutionized the way people view fashion and opened up new avenues for
individuals to communicate themselves at a low cost. Though custom-made clothes may make individuals appear more
unique, prepared clothes are more practical and efficient in general. The handmade dressing is no more practicable and will
be phased out as a result of these new methods of development. Cloth production is now straightforward, and varied patterns
are more easily produced. Indeed, the renaissance of civilization resulted in changes in garment designs, which prompted the
production of clothes.
