In this age of information, being critical, careful, and sensitive is very important.
Being able to understand why and how information is made and accessed brings us to
completely recognizing and appreciating the people behind these media of different forms.
People Media refers to the persons that are involved in the use, analysis, evaluation,
and production of media and information.
People as Media
These are individuals who serve as channels of information dissemination. Before
they make use of writing essays, literature, and news to create artifacts. But with the advent
of technology and social media, people are now empowered to not just produce artifacts but
also evaluate, analyze, edit and give feedback to media artifact. They are the media itself.
People in Media
These are the people who manipulate the media behind the lens and pens. They use
text, audio, visual, multimedia, etc to spread information and messages for the public.
Media and information bring change when old practices and equipment are changed and
new, better, and more efficient means are being used. Media plays an important role in
communicating this change. By giving the necessary information, and sometimes skills,
media can help bring about this change. Media like television can demonstrate and show
how things work. You would have seen on television how a certain dish is cooked using
modern kitchen equipment.

Made the World Smaller and Closer
The speed of media has resulted in bringing people across the world closer. Let us
take an example. When you watch a cricket match between India and another country in
England, Australia, or New Zealand, live on television, you feel you are part of the crowd in
that stadium. Events, happy or sad, happening anywhere can be seen live. Sometimes we
feel that the entire world is one big family. You might have heard the term “global village”.
It means that the whole world is shrinking and becoming a village. Wherever we go to any
part of the world, we see the same products such as soft drinks, television, washing
machine, refrigerator, etc., and the same type of advertisements. Similarly, the world wide
web and internet have brought people and countries much closer.
Media on Commerce
Media or social media are used by the consumer industry to inform people about
their products and services through advertising. Without advertisement, the public will not
know about various products (ranging from soup to oil, television sets to cars) and services
(banking, insurance, hospitals, etc.) that are available in the market as well as their prices.
Thus media help the industries and consumers
THE FLIPSIDE
A new study from researches claims that one in five U.S adults gets their political
news primarily through social media. The study also finds that those who do get their
political news primarily through social media tend to be less informed and more likely
exposed to unproven claims than people who get their news from traditional news.
Social media evolve rapidly almost a quarter of the world’s population is now on
Facebook. Social media slowly killing real activism and media activism bring an
increased awareness about the societal issue, questions remain as to whether this
awareness is translating into real change. Some argue that social sharing has encouraged
people to use computers and mobile phones to express their concerns on social issues
without actually having to engage actively with the campaign in real life. Their support
is limited to pressing the like button or sharing content
On commerce or e-commerce, a low number of social shares can lead to negative social
proof and destroy business credibility.
In Online learning, cheating and lack of privacy are an issue but this has not deterred
social platforms from being used in education.
In a relationship, one of the effects of social media is encouraging people to form and
cherish “social media friendship” over actual friendship. The term friend as used on
social media is a weak shadow of traditional friendship. Real friends know each other,
frequently interact face to face, and have a personal bond.

Title: The Impact of Media on Our Daily Lives
In our modern world, media is everywhere, shaping the way we live in countless ways. From influencing our purchasing
decisions to shaping our social interactions, political views, and educational pursuits, the impact of media on our daily lives
cannot be overstated.
Media, especially advertisements, constantly bombard us with messages about what to buy and where to buy it. These
messages play a significant role in shaping our consumer behavior, influencing what we spend our money on. While this
helps businesses thrive and creates job opportunities, it also contributes to widening economic disparities, as those with
the means to afford extensive advertising campaigns gain a competitive edge.
Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have revolutionized how we connect with others. These
platforms enable us to share our thoughts, experiences, and opinions with a wide audience, fostering virtual communities
and enabling us to support causes we care about. However, the excessive use of social media can sometimes lead to
feelings of loneliness and isolation, as virtual interactions may not fully substitute for real-world connections.
Media serves as a primary source of information and analysis when it comes to politics. News outlets and social media
platforms keep us updated on political events and developments, shaping our understanding of the world around us.
However, not all information presented to us is accurate or unbiased. Biases in reporting and the dissemination of
misinformation can lead to polarization and distrust among citizens, ultimately undermining the democratic process.
The rise of the internet has revolutionized how we access knowledge and learning resources. Online platforms offer a
wealth of educational materials, including videos, articles, and courses, providing opportunities for lifelong learning and
skill development. However, the abundance of information available online also poses challenges, as misinformation and
unreliable sources can mislead learners and undermine the pursuit of knowledge.
To sum it up, media wields considerable influence over our economic choices, social interactions, political engagement,
and educational endeavors. While it brings about numerous benefits, such as connectivity and access to information, it is
imperative to approach media consumption with critical discernment. By questioning the information presented to us and
seeking out diverse perspectives, we can navigate the complexities of the media landscape more effectively and make
informed decisions that shape our individual and collective futures.
