DEFINITION
What is Rhythm?
These are the physical manifestations of the mental and emotional response of the individual
to rhythm.
They are activities which a child responds to physically, socially, and mentally to regular
patterns of sound.
These are movement performed in response to regular or specific beats.
1. Fundamental Rhythms
These are basic movements experiences or expressions.
These enable a person to develop a sense of rhythm by doing simple actions.
Examples: Walking, Jogging, and Skipping
2. Creative Rhythms
These are movements that imitates the action of a man, animal, or object.
These are interpreted through intermediate/creative movements.
Examples: Movement of a Soldier, Tinikling Dance and Tarsier Dance
3. Dramatic Rhythms
These are movements based on an idea, story, poem, song or thought.
These are interpreted through movements have deep emotions and actions.
Examples: Snow White, Swan Lake, and Broadway
IMPORTANCE OF RHYTHM
it suggests direction to our expression. Without rhythm, we're just simply moving;
it functions as the propulsive engine of a piece of music;
it gives a composition structure;
it serves as a timing or guide; and
it can regulate the mood of the songs or dance.
By regularly participating in rhythmic activities, one also gains greater self-confidence and self-
esteem.

it provides entertainment and relaxation.
it involves muscle stretching, toning, and conditioning while increasing heart rate at the same
time.
