Principles of Conflict Resolution.

Effective Communication: Clear and open communication fosters
understanding and problem-solving.
Empathy: Understanding others' perspectives and emotions facilitates empathy-
driven solutions.
Collaboration: Working together to find mutually beneficial solutions promotes
cooperation.
Compromise: Finding middle ground allows for satisfying outcomes for all
parties involved.

Methods of Conflict Resolution

● Negotiation: Direct discussions between parties to reach a mutually acceptable
agreement. Negotiation allows for flexibility and can lead to win-win outcomes
when both parties are willing to compromise.
● Active listening: Active listening entails focusing on what the other person has
to say, staying quiet as they speak, and listening to how they phrase things.
Genuinely listening to their questions and concerns with open ears shows them
that you care about what they’re saying, establishing a sense of respect.
● Mediation: Involves a neutral third party, the mediator, who facilitates
communication and negotiation between conflicting parties. Mediation can help
parties explore underlying issues and find common ground without imposing a
decision.
● Arbitration: Involves a neutral third party, the arbitrator, who listens to
arguments from both sides and makes a binding or non-binding decision to
resolve the conflict. Arbitration is often used when parties cannot reach an
agreement through negotiation or mediation.
● Collaborative: Problem-Solving: Involves bringing together all parties
involved in the conflict to work collaboratively towards a solution. This method
emphasizes cooperation, active listening, and creative problem-solving.
● Conflict Coaching: Involves one-on-one sessions with a trained coach who
helps individuals develop skills and strategies for managing and resolving
conflicts. Conflict coaching focuses on empowering individuals to address
conflicts constructively.
● Communication: Everyone involved in the conflict should feel comfortable
openly discussing their thoughts and feelings in order to come to a resolution
together
