5. 10 Native Immersion Lessons
If you enjoy Fluent with Friends, you’re really gonna enjoy the RealLife Native
Immersion Course, which you can listen to “on the go” (in your car, on the bus, while
exercising, etc).

To give you a little context, Chad, Ethan, and I (Justin) spent about a year developing the
entire course, consisting of 41 Native Immersion Lessons, which was actually how
we first developed the Power Learning Method we use in the Fluent with Friends
Course.

Like Fluent with Friends, each lesson follows the 3 pillars of the Power Learning Method:

● The Core Native Source Material,

● an extensive and in-depth Power Lesson, and
● a Smart Vocabulary Training Lesson.

Besides the 30-minute Audio Lesson (about 30% longer than the Friends episodes), 2
other big differences with the Native Immersion are:

● The Native Immersion Lessons are very packed with content specifically teaching
English in a light, fun, playful manner.
● The Native Immersion PDF Power Lessons are double the length (35-40 pages)
● Instead of Memrise, the Native Immersion course uses Anki, another top vocab
learning tool.

How to Use Anki Vocabulary Tool
Each lesson comes with an “apkg file” with 20 vocabulary flashcards (with audio) using
Anki Vocabulary, which is one of the best vocabulary learning tools in the world. Using a
scientifically proven learning hack called “Spaced Repetition Memory,” the tool
optimizes the way that we learn and retain information through strategically sequenced
repetitions or reviews of the material.

The above graph, known as “the forgetting curve,” shows the human ability to remember
new information according to the number of reviews of times that information has been
reviewed.

Instead of trying to cram (learn everything at once), Anki, optimizes the process (reducing
the overall time and effort spent) through repeated exposure to the information,
optimizing our ability to acquire new vocabulary.

You can learn more about what we think about Anki in Ethan’s article about the topic, The
Secret Tool for Memorizing New Vocabulary.
Take These 3 Steps
1. Go to Apps.AnkiWeb.net and download the Anki desktop application for your
computer. As you can see in the picture, you have options for both windows and mac.

2. Go to AnkiWeb.net and create a free account.

💡Note: You will need this account in order to synchronize the desktop app with the
mobile app.

3. Download the mobile app for your phone.

💡Note: We recommend first opening the APKG file for each lesson on your desktop
(with the Anki Desktop App), then synchronizing it to the web and your mobile
device.
💡Note: The Android Version is free, but unfortunately the iPhone version is $25. If you
have the money, it’s good to be able to study “on the go” with your mobile, but if not, you
can study very effectively from the desktop app or their site.
