ABSTRACT
Physical education occupies an important place in the present context. The main objective of
this research paper is to discuss in detail the career prospects in the field of physical
education. To make a career in the field of physical education, it is necessary to do various
professional certificate courses, diploma courses and degree courses related to this field.
There are vast range of career options in physical education like-sport fields, health clubs,
Online Health Coaching, sports good manufacturer, marketing, commentator, sports
journalism, trainer, security industries, education industry, and many more related options.
We can make our career in various fields by taking courses related to physical education. At
present, not only in India but also at the international level, very high quality institutions are
open, which conduct various types of courses related to physical education and also arrange
for campus placement after the completion of the course. There are immense opportunities
for employment in the government sector as well as in the private sector for the persons with
the prescribed qualifications in physical education.

INTRODUCTION
The goal of physical education is the all-round development of the individual or in other
word we can say that the goal of physical education is to live to the fullest. In fact, it appears
that achieving this lofty goal of physical education is not an easy task. Generally this goal of
physical education can be achieved step by step. These stairs are actually the purpose of
physical education, with the help of which the goal of physical education is achieved. There
are mainly two types of vocational or career options in the field of physical education. The
first type of career option is related to the teaching and training of physical education. In
physical education, they are called traditional careers. Other types of career options are
related to careers arising out of physical education such as health related, administrative,
media related, marketing related, manufacturing related etc. Before choosing a career for a
person associated with physical education, it is important to have knowledge of the
educational and professional qualifications related to that field.
CAREER RELATED MAJOR FIELDS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Teaching- There is a lot of potential in the field of education. The work of teaching starts
from our school education system and goes on till the level of college and university, physical
education is taught as a subject in almost all the level schools from class IX to XII. For this,
teachers of TGT and PGT physical education are appointed. Along with this, lecturers are
appointed for various undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in colleges and
universities. To be appointed as a lecturer for various undergraduate and postgraduate degree
courses in colleges and universities, a candidate must have a master's degree in physical
education as well as pass the NET exam in the same subject. To be appointed as PGT/TGT in
the school, it is necessary to have a master degree/BPED in the physical education.
Coaching-The area of coaching is huge. Anyone making a career in the field of coaching
must have a diploma or certificate course in coaching. At present, every government and non-
government educational and commercial institution arranges specialist coaches for its
players. Apart from this, assistant coaches, fitness trainers, diet experts, physio and other
supporting staff are also needed. Thus we can say that the area of coaching is huge and any
professional related to physical education can make a career.
Health- People have become very health conscious for a long time, but the corona epidemic
has made people more serious about health. Everyone wants to be fit and strong. For this, at
present there has been a flood of fitness centre. The demand for physical education
professionals has increased in these fitness and health clubs. Those making a career in this
field should have a degree and diploma holder related to fitness and yoga. Recruitment of
fitness trainers and yoga assistants has started coming out in the private sector as well as in
the government sector. In this way, people associated with physical education can also
establish their employment in the field of health.
Administration-Management is also an important department in the field of sports. There are
immense career opportunities in this department as well. Increasing competition in sports and
increasing competition in business has opened the way for career in this field. In this field,
career options are available in various fields like Sports Director, Sports Manager, Deputy
Director Sports, Sports Marketing, Tournament Manager, Sports Tour Manager, Sports
Officer etc. For this candidates should have PG degree in Sports Management. Along with
this, specialist officers are also recruited for sports management in various institutions.
Media-Various media i.e. Doordarshan, Radio, Newspapers, Social media and various
magazines etc. have contributed a lot in increasing the various career opportunities in this
field. The means of communication have greatly increased sports coverage. Cable television
channels; for example, ESPN, Star Sports, Ten Sports, etc. broadcast sports 24 hours a day.
Due to which the demand of specialist officers related to sports journalism in these means has
increased a lot. Those who wish to work in this field should have a degree and diploma
related to sports journalism.
Book Publishing & Writing-In the field of physical education, there are many good career
opportunities available in the field of book writing. In fact, there is a huge shortage of books
on physical education and its related sub-topics in India. Some of the physical educationists
known as various sub-disciplines of physical education; Have deep knowledge about sports
bio-mechanics, sports sociology, sports medicine, exercise, physiology, sports pedagogy,
research methods, sports psychology, sports philosophy, sports management etc., by writing
quality books about them anybody can start your career. Books on Sports and Physical
Education, its sub-themes and subsidiary subjects; For example, publishers of health
education and entertainment textbooks need people with knowledge about the areas of
physical education. In areas related to physical education and sports, editorial workers who
are familiar with the demands for publications are needed. This type of work requires
knowledge of physical education and writing and editorial skills. Others are needed in the
sales area, including direct sales, which often involve traveling across the country to sell
books. In this work, knowledge of physical education and comparative values of available
books is also required. These individuals require expertise in the field of physical education
and sports with the ability to sell their understanding of the market available for publications.
Manufacturing Industry-Careers are also available in the sports equipment manufacturing
industry. A person who wants to make a career in sports equipment manufacturing industry
must have knowledge of physical education and sports. One person can set up sports industry
on a small scale. This can only pertain to T-shirts and track-suits. It can only be related to
sports shoes. It may be related to the sports equipment of various sports. Research and design
knowledge is very important for such tasks, as there is always a demand for new types of
sports equipment and new types of tracksuits or swimsuits, which are beneficial in enhancing
the performance of the players (without losing standards). .
CONCLUSION
Many career options have been described in this article, but there are still many careers in the
field of physical education that can be created. In fact, the limited number of career
opportunities in the field of physical education is only a person's imagination. If we define
physical education as the science and art of human movement then it opens the doors of many
careers in front of us. Multiple careers in physical education; For example, sports bio-
mechanics, sports medicine, sports nutrition, sports sociology, sports psychology, sports
history and dynamic or dynamic learning etc. can be created.
