EMERGENCY HOME VENTILATOR

krkraki815@gmail.com

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world in 2020 by spreading at unprecedented

rates and causing tens of thousands of fatalities within a few months. The number of
deaths dramatically increased in regions where the number of patients in need of
hospital care exceeded the availability of care. Many COVID-19 patients experience
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a condition that can be treated with
mechanical ventilation. In response to the need for mechanical ventilators, designed
and tested an emergency ventilator (EV) that can control a patient’s peak inspiratory
pressure (PIP) and breathing rate, while keeping a positive end expiratory pressure
(PEEP).This abstract describes the preliminary design of a simple, easy-to-use, and easy-
to-build ventilator with an unique design that can be used for COVID-19 patients in
emergencies and to prevent massive loss of life in resource-poor environments. It can
be assembled by a nonexpert as a homemade solution, without the need for specific
equipment or technology. The proposed system is novel, inexpensive, has a reduced
reliance on external power, and is very easy to maintain. There are two types of
ventilator devices. One type simply pushes a certain volume of air into the lungs
mechanically without accounting for whether the patient wants to draw air into their
body or to push air out. Almost all of these devices are based on the use of the
conventional bag valve mask (BVM). A BVM is a plastic bag that a clinical care
practitioner can deflate manually with their hands, and therefore provides an
inexpensive and easy way to force air into the lungs. Indeed, BVMs are applied by first
responders to patients who are not breathing, rather than performing mouth-to-mouth
resuscitation. All ventilator devices based on a BVM are essentially robotic arms that
squeeze the bag again and again at a set frequency. These devices can be manufactured
quickly and in large numbers, but since these ventilators are simply pumps that force
air into the patient’s lungs, they can only be used for patients under general anaesthesia
or those who are near death and have non-functional lungs. Applying such a device to a
conscious patient would lead to a risk of death through barotrauma, which occurs when
the human body is exposed to an inappropriate air pressure. The second type of
ventilator is more advanced. These devices are currently being used in resuscitation
units to treat COVID-19 (and other) patients, as these ventilators are intelligent enough
to be able to discern if the patient wants to draw in air or push it out and then help the
patient to achieve the desired action. A ventilator of this type has many sensors that
interact with the human body, and air is supplied deliberately and accurately to the
patient based on the sensor data. As an example, the Puritan Bennett 980 mechanical
ventilator, which is a top of the line high-performance ventilator, provides advanced
synchrony tools to help the clinician to set the ventilator to adapt to each patient’s
individual needs and thus provide the appropriate level of support throughout the
breath. However, such devices are very complicated pieces of machinery, making them
very expensive and time-consuming to manufacture in large quantities.

RTPEE USING WAVELET TRANSFORM

Power system protection is the art of setting up of relays, fuses, or both, to provide
maximum sensitivity to faults and abnormal conditions and to avoid false alarms
during normal operating conditions. So, it is desirable that a correct decision be made
by the protective device as to whether the trouble is in abnormal condition or just a
transient which the system can absorb and return to normal working condition. For the
system to operate properly, it is necessary to isolate the trouble area quickly with a
minimum number of system disturbances. Failure to operate and incorrect operation
results in major system upsets involving increased equipment damage, increased
personnel hazards and long interruption of service. Power Transmission line fault
identification and classification requires fast and accurate analysis. The action of
tripping mainly depends on the voltage and current waveforms obtained during the
fault at the relay location. Wavelet analysis is a mathematical tool for signal analysis
and is used to detect and classify the type of fault occurring on the transmission line.
This paper focuses on the detection and classification of faults on an electrical power
transmission line using three phase currents and voltages of one end which are taken
as inputs. There are numerous methods for classifications of faults like using fuzzy
systems, Artificial neural networks, Wavelet Transformation etc. Here we are using
wavelet transformation to reduce complexity. Simulations are performed under
different fault conditions using MATLAB. The stability of the proposed scheme under
various cases is tested and reliable results have been obtained. The wavelet transform
(WT) is used to analyze signals in time–frequency space and reduce noise, while
retaining the important components in the original signals.

ADAPTIVE DC-LINK VOLTAGE-CONTROLLED SPLIT

RTPEE CAPACITOR DSTATCOM FOR POWER
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
03
SiripuramAmruthavarsha, MogaliSrivarun, Natarajan Karuppiah
Vardhaman College of Engineering, Hyderabad, Telangana, India
amruthasiripuram@gmail.com

The power quality issues mainly arise at the distribution side due to variations in the
load. FACTS devices were used for power quality improvement. A distribution-static
compensator (DSTATCOM) is preferred because of its quick response due to the fast-
switching times provided by the power electronic device (IGBT).The power quality in a
distribution system is improved by using DSTATCOM. In the conventional DSTATCOM
simulation, the harmonics are reduced beside high voltage stress (i.e., switching loss)
across the switches and the required DC voltage is fixed and is of high value. Due to this,
the requirement of dynamic DC-link voltage of DSTATCOM is increased to improve
power quality. In the proposed system the dc-link voltage is selected based on the load at
the distribution side without compromising the performance of the DSTATCOM. We use
the theory of instantaneous symmetrical components to obtain an algorithm to compute
three-phase reference currents which, when injected into the power system, produce
desired results. The proposed scheme implements a new controller to generate
reference voltage for a Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) which operates in
voltage control mode. To authenticate the proposed system simulations are carried out
on the three-phase two-level split-capacitor DSTATCOM.

This paper is on Smart Solar Street Lighting System, which aims to design and execute
sophisticated embedded system development for safe and energy-efficient street
lighting. There are three common methods for controlling the lights currently in use. At
6 p.m., an EB person turns on the lights and turns them off at 5 a.m., or an electronic
controller is engaged to carry out the same task. Occasionally, a switch is installed in the
road that permits anyone to control it based on the public needs. The lights are being
used inefficiently in all the approaches; they remain on even when they are not needed,
resulting in massive power loss. The goal of this study is to propose a solution to the
problem. It not only provides a safe environment for automobiles, but it also ensures a
safe environment with sufficient lighting for pedestrians. Being a fail-safe method, the
system is equipped with facilities to automatically report faulty lights for quick service
or replacement

Car parking systems have been around almost since the time cars were invented. The
Car parking system was first introduced in the 20th century for the reason is to storage
space for the vehicles. But as the population is increasing the space left for the storage
of these vehicles is decreasing. Parking facilities have always been important by
allowing drivers to safely leave their car while they can go on to their daily activities.
India is a very populated country it is a very hectic task to find a proper parking
slot. This abstract describes the design of a smart parking system. As we know finding a
parking spot has become a daily worry in recent years, as the number of cars is
increasing there are only limited parking slots in the parking lot. So, it is very difficult
for the driver to know where is an empty spot. In this design, the parking space is
equipped with IR sensors that tell about the occupancy status of the parking space. The
sensors are kept in each slot and this will sense whether there is a car in the slot, if
there is no car then it will indicate the floor number and slot number where it is empty.
This will be very helpful for the driver because he/she will just have to look at the
entrance whether there is a space or not. This model is very useful and easy to build
because it saves a lot of time for the drivers. All the smart parking systems use an ultra-
sonic sensor on the street light poles which detects if there are any vehicles in that
particular area, but by using this system we cannot exactly locate where the parking
slot is. Our model is to place an IR sensor in each slot which sends information to the
Arduino and the information will be processed and the output is shown on an LCD
display, this display shows the exact spot where it is empty so the driver has to just see
on the display if there is an empty slot. Also, in our model, we have connected a sensor
at the entrance if there is an empty slot then only the gate will be opened. The cost of
the model is also very less and it is easy to manufacture.

Agriculture is a backbone of our country. About 70% of our country’s revenue comes
from agriculture. But during heavy rain falls, the farmers face lot of problems because
there cultivated crops get washed off or destroyed. So, in order to avoid this problem
this project is designed which helps if protecting the crops from heavy rainfall and
saving that rain water to use it for other purposes. The saved water can be used for
feeding animals, washing, cooking etc. and can also be reused to sprinkle it back to the
field when needed. This abstract describes the preliminary design of a simple, and easy-
to-build with an unique design that is mostly used for Farmers from emergency rains
and to prevent massive loss of cultivated crop from unexpected change in weather
conditions. In this system an automatic roof is inculcated, which works by taking the
signals from the rain sensors and covers the whole Cultivated crop to protect it from
heavy rains. The rain water is being collected by the means of the automatic shed,
water is passed to the down through water collector unit. And can be utilised for
further cultivation of land or sent to ground water harvesting pit, i.e., to increase the
ground level of water.

Sustainable energy development plays an important role in the presentday energy

systems research, with solar energy as one of the highest rising andpromising impact.
But as the PV arrays give low voltage output, choice ofconverters is adopted for

temperature. Therefore, a robust converter isrequired. DC-DC boost power converters
play an important role in solar powersystems. They step up the input voltage of a solar

As India continues to urbanise with its manufacturing sector growing, its energy
demands have increased rapidly. In this period, the need for energy monitoring and
conservation must be evident. So the consumers can monitor their load consumption by
a digital wattmeter. But the digital wattmeter measures and shows the total power
consumed by consumer appliances. The consumer has no idea about which appliance
consumes more power. Also, the consumer will not be able to know whether any
appliance is getting damaged. To resolve these issues, we have come up with this
project which is an IOT-based energy monitoring system, used to measure the power
consumed by each appliance(Load). The power consumed by each appliance can be
monitored individually by the consumer and it also informs us if there is an issue. An
Internet of Things (IoT) technique was employed to make the system smart. A
microcontroller with built-in Wi-Fi - ESP32 - was used to monitor and control each load
using a mobile application - Blynk.

Nowadays, for many Power Electronic appliances the control systems have been
increasing widely. Crucial with these demands of the customer, many researchers or
designers have been struggling to find the reliable and most economic controller to
meet these demands. Modern power electronics applications expect low power
converters to achieve extremely high power density and high efficiency. The
implementation and loss analysis of the SEPIC with the new design are provided in
details. This paper determines the performance of SEPIC converter using PI controller
and fuzzy controller. For designing and verifying the results of a fuzzy controller, PI
controller should also use. The experimental results of the proposed SEPIC converter
using fuzzy control are evaluated in comparison with results using PI controller. The
comparison of both the results indicates that the fuzzy controller is able to obtain better
settling response than PI controller.

As in today’s world, where there are energy crisis and therefore the resources are
depleting at a better rate, there's a requirement of specific technology that recovers the
energy, which are wasted. So in case of automobiles, one among these useful
technologies is that the regenerative braking system. Regenerative braking is an energy
recovery mechanism that slows a vehicle or object by converting its Kinetic Energy
(K.E) into a form where it will be either used immediately or stored until needed. Using
regenerative braking system in automobiles enables us to recover the K.E. of the vehicle
to some extent which is lost during the braking process. The converted K.E. is stored for
future use or is fed back to the facility system of the vehicle. This energy is often stored
during a battery or bank of capacitors for later use. Energy also can be stored with the
assistance of a rotating flywheel which is one among the foremost inexpensive and
effective method of storing and regenerating power. Vehicles driven by electric motors
use the motor as a generator when using regenerative braking and its output is
supplied to an electrical load. The transfer of energy to the load provides the braking
effect and regenerates power.

In the earlier days power electronics were used to control and regulate the electrical
quantities in power system. But, nowadays FACTs devices like UPFC, USSC, STATCOM
are used to improve the power quality. The flexible ac-transmission system (FACTS)
family called distributed power flow controller (DPFC). The DPFC is derived from the
unified power flow controller (UPFC) with eliminated common dc link. The active
power exchange between the shunt and series converters, which is through the
common dc link in the UPFC, is now through the transmission lines at the third
harmonic frequency. The DPFC is to use multiple small size single phase converters
instead of large size three phase series converter. The large number of series converters
provides redundancy, thereby increasing the system reliability. As the D-FACTS
converters are single phase and floating with respect to the ground, there is no high
voltage isolation required between the phases. The cost of the DPFC system is lower
than the UPFC. The DPFC has the same control capability as the UPFC, which comprises
the adjustment of the line impedance, the transmission angle, and the bus voltage. Due
to the high control capability DPFC can also be used to improve the power quality and
system stability, such as low frequency power oscillation damping, voltage sag
restoration. The DPFC model is designed using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The
results are discussed for various types of controllers and are compared.

This paper focuses on power quality events, detection, and classification of power
quality disturbances. Power quality (PQ) disturbances lead to severe problems in
industries and electrical grids. To mitigate PQ problems, the accurate detection and
classification of the possible disturbances are essential. The Power quality disturbances
detection and classification are valuable tasks for the protection of power system
networks. In this work, a new technique is used for categorizing PQ disturbances using
wavelet transform. First, a simulator is used to generate power signal disturbances. The
second component is a detector that uses the technique of DWT to detect power signal
disturbances. DWT is used to extract features in the power signal. Recognition of power
quality events by analyzing voltage waveform disturbances is a very important task for
power system monitoring. This project presents an approach for the recognition and
classification of power quality disturbances using wavelet transform. The proposed
method employs wavelet transform techniques to extract the most important and
significant features from details and approximation waves. Various transient events,
such as voltage sag, swell, interruption, harmonic, transient, sag with harmonic, swell
with harmonic, and flicker, are tested. The sensitivity of the proposed algorithm under
different noise conditions is investigated. The results show that the classifier can detect
and classify different power quality signals, even under noisy conditions, correctly.

This paper focuses on the implementation of Visual SLAM (Simultaneous Localization

and Mapping). Visual SLAM or vSLAM, is a technology able to build a map of an
unknown environment and simultaneously localize itself in the partially built map,
using computer vision. Visual SLAM uses only visual inputs to perform localisation and
mapping, meaning thatthe only sensor required is a camera that has to be mounted on
board of the device. No other external sensors are required. Today, with the great
improvements in automation and robotics, vSLAM is one of the most challenging open
problems for developing autonomous robots and vehicles. One major potential
opportunity for visual SLAM systems is to replace GPS tracking and navigation in
certain applications. GPS systems are not useful for indoors, or in big cities where the
view of the sky is obstructed, and they are only accurate within a few meters. Visual
SLAM systems solve each of these problems as they are not dependent on satellite
information and they’re taking accurate measurements of the physical world around
them. Visual SLAM technology has many potential applications and demand for this
technology will likely increase as it helps augmented reality, autonomous vehicles and
other products become more commercially viable

Commercial and industrial (C&I) loads are always in increased demand for electrical
energy. Residential consumption are also increasing with a steady trend. Further,
agricultural energy consumption is adding burden to existing distribution grid
infrastructure. Hence, to alleviate peak demand scenarios, smart grid technologies like
demand response (DR), demand side management (DSM) and dynamic pricing can be
introduced. Proper load shifting based on load priority should be scheduled. The DR
technologies are expected to mitigate peak demand and negate discomfort to energy
