Theme of knowledge
The value of knowledge because when the son of the family wrote a letter to his
father and mother they were not able to read the letter and also mother worried
about the situation of her son and the son talked his letter for his situation so it's
defining the important of reading
THEME OF FAMILY
The theme of the story the relationship and the honesty of the people living in the
village because they have good connection and they all aware of the money sent
to the family.
Theme of humanity
The story also show the important of humanity so the official need to learn the
value of humanity like other people living in the village

6. PICTURE DESCRIPTION
The first picture describe

Adam and his wife Martha who are doing for their daily farming work Has come to a postman who is
carrying letter for them the picture also describe sunny and drought situation

this picture describe that the whole village depends on the school teacher when it comes issue about
knowledge this is because we can see through picture that all the village people are gattering around
the school teacher while he was reading the letter to Adam

The third picture describe the age of Adam. Adam is carrying a stick on his hand, which aids his body
posture and movement; hence, it shows his old age

It also describe Adam’s decision on arrival to Darpur ,because he wake up early in the morning ,dressed
well and moves to the main road in order to aboard the bus

It describe the order and management of the place

It also describe the bad behavior of the official

7. CONFLICT
It is only one conflict present in both chapter one and two of the short story RICH MAN POOR MAN .The
conflict, which is present in this story, is man vs man type of conflict. It occurs between the old man
Adam and the official (the short temper) when the official asked Adam to bring his identity card .Adam
was not aware of this thing (identity card) because he thought, he can receive the money through the
money order without any other condition but this create misunderstanding between the two man which
leads conflict between the old man and the official
8. PLOT
 farmer and a poor man who lives together with his family in small village called minti
has receives a letter from a postman one day ,the letter is from his only son Saul who left
the village from two year ago to abroad . Adam called his wife Martha in order to notify
her the event .Martha, the Saul’s mother has excited because, she was not expecting
her son was still alive .Since Adam cannot write and read he decided to look for help
from the school teacher just to know what the letter is . The schoolteacher arrived the
Adam’s house; he read the letter for him. He informed Adam that their son is living in
London and he sent them for money, which is worth one hundred pound through post
office. The school teacher showed the old man the money order and he directed the
way he can get the money .He told to take the money order and look for Post office in
Darpur
 The next morning, Adam wake up early in the morning and dressed well .He went to the
main road, which is two mile from his village just to aboard bus into Darfur. The old man
has never travel any other thing into Darpur apart from small thing which he used to buy
for his farm. The only area he knows from Darfur is the shop of Rick and the market. To
find the post office will become a challenge to the old man since his traveling desire is
different from those ones of the previous. After many Guides
The old man finally found the post office. This is his first time to be in a post office, but
the poor man faced a challenge from one of the official who works in the many order
office, the poor man was asked the many order and identity card which he never heard
before .The old man doesn’t know about identity card .He wondered what official man is
taking about, They argued for a moment .Finally Adam ask help for the crowd, where he
can get the identity card. A man from the crowd has directed the old man and he
pointed the ministry of interior where he can get the identity card.

2.ENVELOPE: is folded paper container that used to put letters when sending email

5. Ministry of the Interior: The Ministry of the Interior is a government department responsible for
things that happen inside the country, like issuing identity cards, managing public services, and dealing
with emergencies
