THE PROBLEM

INTRODUCTOIN

The "Basura Mo Bitbitin Mo" Campaign in Masasa Beach Tingloy

Batangas has been implemented to address the issue of waste management and

promote sustainable tourism in the area. Masasa Beach is known for it's pristine

beauty and crystal. Clear waters, attracting tourists from all over the country.

However, the influx of visitors has also led to an increase in waste generation,

threatening the natural environment of the beach.

According to the broader context, the Philippine government has been

implementing laws for environmental protection like RA 9003, the Philippine

Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, and RA 9729, the Climate

Change Act of 2009. These laws aim to integrate environmental preservation in

policy formulation and development plans of all government agencies and units

of Basura mo Bitbitin mo aims to each person is responsible for proper waste

management to safeguard the island town of Tingloy at exery tourist is necessary

to pay Garbage Bond with a two pesos (200.00) in exchange for two (2) trash

bags distributed by the Local Government in the Tingloy Port one trash bag for

the recyclable wastes. the garbage bond (200.00) will only be given to the

returners if the trash bags that are may only required in the day of their departure

from the island. This will surrender to the tourism office in Tingloy Port. To
improving waste management to realize a 3R society to conserve natural

resources and preserve our living environment.

The Campaign encourage tourists to minimize their waste by bringing back

their trash with them when they leave the beach. By raising awareness and

promoting responsible tourism practice, the campaign aims to reduce the impact

of littering and protect the marine ecosystem of Masasa Beach.

Moverover, The impact of "Basura Mo, Bitbitin Mo" Campaign on waste

management and sustainable tourism in Masasa Beach. By evacuating the

effectiveness of the campaign and analyzing the changes in waste generation

and behavior of tourists, to provide valuable insights for future initiatives and

contribute to the preservation of Masasa Beach as a sustainable and eco-friendly

destination.

As for Masasa Beach, it's a popular destination among tourists, especially

campers. Over the years, the beach has gained popularity and has become a go-

to weekend destination for many. The implementation of environmental

campaigns like "Basura Mo, Bitbitin Mo" would undoubtedly contribute to

maintaining its natural beauty and preserving its environment.

This campaign is Carry a trash bag with you for your waste, avoid using

single-use plastics, and respect the local rules and regulations. It's our

responsibility as visitors to help in preserving these beautiful natural sites for

future generations to enjoy.

According to Mayor Larry Alvarez and Vice Mayor Mikee Alvarez (2023)

This campaign encourages visitors to carry their own trash and dispose of it

properly, reducing the environmental impact of tourism activities on the beach

environmental initiative aimed at maintaining cleanliness and promoting

responsible tourism.

In Addition, This campaign will serve as guide to improve the nature in

Masasa Beach Tingloy Batangas and if you plan to visit Masasa Beach, I

encourage you to be mindful of your waste and take part in keeping the beach

clean by practicing responsible waste disposal. Together, we can help preserve

the natural of future generations and to enjoy the tourists.

According to Sanguniang Bayan et al, (2005) To ensure the preservation

of Masasa Beach and it’s surroundings, it is essential for visitors and the local

community to follow responsible waste management practices. This include

properly disposing of trash in designated bins or taking it with them when leaving

the beach
Based on the observation the researchers, it is seen that there are

different factors that affect on the tourist and the community, comes to waste

management and garbage disposal, ensure the waste enters the right

management, which help provide suggestions that promote the ‘’Basura Mo

Bitbitin Mo’’ Campaign in Masasa Beach Tingloy Batangas in the tourist in the

area.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The overall research question for this study is based on the

awareness of ‘’Basura Mo Bitbitin Mo’’. Campaign in Masasa Beach

Tingloy Batangas.

Specifically this research aims to explore the following research

question:

1. What is the effect of the ‘’Basura Mo Bitbitin Mo’’ Campaign in

reducing littering on the beach in terms of:

1.1 Cleanliness

1.2 Responsible

1.3 Discipline

2. How thus ‘’Basura Mo Bitbitin Mo’’ Can help in social interaction to

community and people relative to:

2.2 Organize Clean – up


3. Is there any significant relationship between the effect and social

interaction appeal of the beach area before and after the

implementation of the campaign?

4. What are the problems encountered by implementing and sustaining

“Basura Mo Bitbitin Mo” Campaign ?

5. Based on the result of the study, What collaborative activity may be

proposed in assessing the impact of “Basura Mo Bitbitin Mo”

Campaign?
SCOPE DELIMITATION AND LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The research focuses on waste material garbage specifically at

Masasa Beach Tingloy Batangas. It include organizing clean-up activities to

remove litter from the Beach, raising awareness about proper waste

disposal sustainable waste management initiatives in the area. The study

will also involve collaborating with local authorities, community

organizations, volunteers to support the campaign and coordinate efforts to

keep the beach clean.

The campaign will focus on addressing waste management issue in

Masasa Beach, Tingloy Batangas and will not extend to other areas.

Resources such as budget, manpower, and time will be efforts made to

maximize the impact within these constraints. The campaign will not be

able to solve all management issues in Masasa Beach, but will aim to make

a visible and sustainable improvement.

The study will only be conducted at Masasa Beach Tingloy Batangas,

it will only accessibility to remote our hard-to-reach areas of the beach may
pose challenges in effectively addressing all areas with litter accumulation.

Moreover, the study will focus on local businesses, organizations and

stakeholder in Tingloy to support and sustain the campaign beyond its

initial phase can help to insure the waste management practices in area.
SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY

This research hold to substantial significance for several reason in

Basura Mo, Bitbitin Mo campaign in Masasa Beach Tingloy Batangas.

To the person, this study significant to environmental as it explores

the effects of the impact on environment and identify areas for

improvement the campaign aims to reduce waste and promote responsible

waste management practices in order to protect the natural beauty and

ecological health of Masasa Beach.

To the community, the study holds significance for community

involves local residents, tourists, and businesses in efforts to keep Masasa

Beach clean. Understanding the attitudes and behaviors of these

stakeholders toward waste management can help improve community

engagement and support for the campaign.

To the tourism, and LGU’s, are play a crucial role in tourist, the study

significance lies in the understanding the important for attracting visitors

and sustaining the local tourism and to provide insights into how the
campaign contributes to tourism development and economic benefits for

the community.

To the future researches, this study on the impact of participant the

cleaning-up of Basaura mo Bitibitin mo campaign in Masasa Beach Tingloy

Batangas can serve as a valuable reference. It provides a foundation for

exploring similar topics in different context or expanding the research to

other campaign. The findings can contribute to the existing body knowledge

on community engagement and its effect on the environment and the

policy.
