Asia is home to artistic traditions
that date back many thousand of
years. Religion and philosophy
have been integral to the art of
the entire region, yet certain
stylistic characteristics make the
art of each of these cultures
distinctive.
Indian art focused on depicting and
representing religion. It can be
distinguished by its colorful and
elaborate details. There is a
noticeable tendency toward
elaborate decoration and an
emphasis on the human body,
frequently showing sensual
movement and suggesting fertility.
Characteristics
• Concentrated on religion,
often represented the Hindu
gods
• Reflection of their faith
• Colorful and vibrant
• Carving stones is a prominent
skill in Indian art
Asian art, particularly Chinese and
Japanese arts, has helped in the
establishments of their identities as
a people.
They both welcomed Western ideas,
but China remained conventional
while Japan chose to let Western
ideals be embodied in their
artworks.

ART

period when culture, particularly
art, has flourished tremendously.
 Principles of Confucianism
became evident in most artworks
depicting everyday life.
 The used of Chinese characters.
 Inspired from Indian influences.
 Focused on cultural and religious
beliefs and practices.
 Concrete manifestations of their
cultural identity as a people.
 Artworks are very precise and
symmetrically balanced

Japanese developed their own art
by making it closer to their

Korea is a path of various cultural
treasures. Because it is near to big
influential Eastern Asian countries,
namely China and Japan, it got most
of its inspirations from these two
nations. Through time and
technology, Korea earned its name in
art in the field of pottery, films and
television dramas.

• Korean art is noted for its
transactions in pottery, music,
calligraphy, painting, sculpture and
other genres, often marked by the
use of either monochromatic or
bold colors, natural forms, precise
shape and scale, and surface
decoration.
• Korean art looks so much
like traditional Chinese art
but artist of today
acknowledge that Korean art
is an art that is birthed by its
country and is containing the
culture of its people.
Philippine art has undergone
some changes from the time
of the Early Filipinos to the
contemporary times. It is a
mix of different cultural
elements mainly oriental and
western influences.
