File
A folder/directory is an electronic storage place
that stores electronic files or other folders.

In the real world, folders can be analogous as a

folder used to store documents (letters, invoices,
notes, etc.), or contains a smaller folder.

Folders/directories are managed by a computer

program called File Manager which is part of the
operating system.
Folders have a hierarchical tree-shaped structure as
shown in following image.

Your computer has many different types of files on it, and each one has its own file
extension. A file extension is a three- or four-letter identifier found at the end of a file
name and following a period.

sometimes it called a file suffix or a filename extension, is the character or group of

characters after the period that makes up an entire file name.

A file extension, sometimes called a file suffix or a filename
extension, is the character or group of characters after the
period that makes up an entire file name. Some common file
extensions include PNG, MP4, PDF, MP3, DOC, SVG, INI, DAT,
EXE, and LOG.
Why Are File Extensions Used?
The file extension helps an operating system, like Windows or macOS,
determine which program on your computer the file is associated with.

For example, the file notes.docx ends in docx, a file extension that's associated
with Microsoft Word on your computer. When you attempt to open this file,
Windows sees that the file ends in a DOCX extension, which it already knows
should be opened by Word.
Examples of file extensions

Below are some examples of common file

extensions in operating systems, divided by
category:
Executable File Extensions

Some file extensions are classified as executable, meaning that

when opened, they don't just launch for viewing or playing.
Instead, they actually do something all by themselves, like
install a program, start a process, run a script, etc.

Because files with these extensions are just a single step away
from doing lots of things to your computer, you have to be
very careful when you receive executable file extensions like
this from a source you don't trust.
Identifying Viruses by the File Extension

It's important to really examine the full filename before

opening a file if you're not sure what it is. The biggest
takeaways are to ensure you notice the real file extension
(whatever comes after the period), and to research the file
extension if you're unfamiliar with it.
pokemon .mp4 pokemon.mp4.exe

REAL FAKE/VIRUS

For example, video.mp4 is clear it's an MP4 video, but video.mp4.exe is very
different, despite the small filename difference. Since the details after the period
identify the file extension, this might really be an EXE file disguised as a video,
which should be avoided, since it's likely trying to fool you into opening it.
What is the file extension for mobile apps?
APK (Android application package) is the file extension
used for Android apps.

Apps for iOS use the IPA (iOS App Store Package)
extension.

Search Engine
and
Web Browser
Search Engine

Search Engine: A search engine is a kind of website

through which users can search the content available
on the Internet. For this purpose, users enter the
desired keywords into the search field.
There are three main components of the Search engine:

Crawler: Crawlers are software programs sometimes referred to

the bots. It regularly scans the websites automatically for URLs,
keywords, and links to discover the new updates. The crawler
can follow the links present on some other webpage.

Index: As we know, the Crawler continuously scans the websites,

it develops an index of URLs, links, and keywords to make the
search results more effective.

Search Algorithm: The search algorithm is the complete

mechanism behind the whole searching process. It is working by
searching for the index and finding the most suitable web pages
by matching keywords that are searched by the users.
Web Browser

Web Browser: The web browser is an example of application software that is developed to retrieve
and view the information from web pages or HTML files present on the web servers.

The first web browser was invented by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in 1990 and the very first graphical
web browser was developed in 1993 and is named the mosaic.

After that, various web browsers were developed.

Some of them are navigator which is developed by Netscape communication, Microsoft Edge,
Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Apple safari.
