COURSE DESCRIPTION
A continuation of ADF 112. The course introduces techniques of manual architectural and design drafting as basic
skills used to describe form and materials. It explains plan, section and elevation and their various graphic tools and
conventions, and the rationale behind their use. It stresses drawing as clear communication and covers the proper use
of lines, presentation layout, lettering, dimensioning, and title blocks. Prerequisites: ADF 112
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The main course objective is to communicate to students the conventions of 2D and 3D representation through a series
of exercises in which these drawing techniques are explored. This course does not only enable students to present their
projects neatly but stimulates their design capabilities by working on geometry variables, generated volumes and
spatial relations along with the necessary technical skills to achieve the latter.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Adopt a planned and ordered approach to drawing.
- Select and use proficiently drafting instruments and equipment.
- Use rendering techniques to enhance graphic representation of objects, spaces, buildings and scenes.
- Apply appropriate conventions and standards in producing and interpreting drawings.
- Draw plans, sections and elevations of any object or space, analyze it and explain it more thoroughly by drawing its
axonometric or perspective views.
