This serves as a letter of support for Ms. Malyn Shoff. I had the pleasure of teaching Malyn
during her time in the Education Department at Mount Aloysius College. As an outstanding
student, Malyn was extremely prepared, thorough, conscientious, and detail oriented.
She earned a 3.89 career GPA, spent eight semesters on the Dean’s List and was inducted
into the Kappa Delta Pi: Honor Society in Education.

In addition to her outstanding work in the classroom, Malyn served as President of our
Alpha Lambda Zeta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi: Honor Society in Education. This was a
challenging role due to this being our inaugural year as a chapter. As the Chapter Advisor,
I witnessed her thrive and excel as a leader in this role. She attended “New Chapter
Training” virtual meetings with our member experience manager at KDP headquarters. She
also sent clear emails, created impressive agendas, and led student meetings. She was
instrumental in planning and implementing our KDP Induction Ceremony. I appreciated
her calm demeanor on the evening of the event. Ms. Shoff’s exceptional leadership qualities
will be an asset to your school district.

Ms. Shoff also demonstrated her passion for the field of education through her work with
our Student Pennsylvania State Education Association student club on campus. She served
as the SPSEA Representative for the Mount Aloysius College Student Government
Association. She attended meetings and served as a liaison for the club on a college-wide
scale. As a member of SPSEA, Malyn participated in club meetings and service projects on
campus. She takes initiative and is dedicated to her own professional development. Not
only did she attend the 2023 Student PSEA State Conference and Convention at the
Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, but she also engaged in the “Outreach to Teach
Community Service Project” at Swatara Middle School in the Central Dauphin School
District with her peers and faculty chapter leaders. This month, Malyn will attend the 2024
Student PSEA State Conference and Convention at Eden Resorts & Suites in Lancaster.

In addition to her exceptional work on campus, Ms. Malyn Shoff spent time working at the
Johnstown Children’s Museum as a Docent for various school and community groups
visiting the museum. I am so pleased that she took advantage of that wonderful
opportunity to interact with teachers, students, families, and the education coordinator at
the museum. I give Ms. Malyn Shoff my highest recommendation. She is passionate and
dedicated to the field of education. If you have any additional questions concerning Ms.
Shoff, please do not hesitate to contact me on my personal cell at 412-289-6543 or at
srutledge@mtaloy.edu.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sara Alexis Rutledge
