R&D
- A lot of employees and engineers: Mr Phan Van Dung, Ms. Dang Thi

* Professional activities
+ Warehouse
+ Purchasing Department:
+ Technical Department:
- In the second week, I gradually became more familiar with the office
working environment as well as the activities of the department where I
was interning. After I finished the previous translation, I was assigned to
translate the other document “Han’s Catalog” from English to
Vietnamese. This next document is mainly about machine types,
performance parameters, product features, etc. so I need a lot of related
documents. Therefore I have only completed the first half of the
document.

2.2. Difficulties and lessons learnt
*Difficulties
-Besides the results achieved, there are also difficulties in the translation
process. If there is time, the translation can be richer
* Lessons learned
- The first lesson I learned during my internship was initiative and this is
also the biggest lesson for me. Proactively get to know people,
proactively learn about the jobs the internship offers and proactively
work with people... all of which help me integrate faster in the new
environment.

3.1 The array of knowledge acquired at VNUA
After a long time studying at Vietnam National University of Agriculture, I
have gained a lot of useful knowledge related to language:
*Professional knowledge
I have learned 4 basic English skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and
Writing. It helped me have a solid English background. In addition, I have
also learned other subjects such as Introduction to Linguistics, Vietnamese,
Grammar, Phonetics, Semantics, Lexicology... which helped me understand
the nature and function of language, origin, and development of language.
Moreover, it also helped me understand grammar in English and concepts
of phonetics.
Second, translation is an interesting subject that provides basic knowledge
about translation theory, translation methods, and translation errors, which
we need to avoid while translating.
The final, English for Office staff also provided me how to deal with office
tasks and materials, reception and telephoning, understanding ways to write
letters, email...
*Soft skills
Communication skills
Teamwork skills
Time management skills
Office skills
3.2 Association with the internship work
Even though I've been interning for a few weeks, I still don't really
understand the job of a translator in particular and an office worker in
general. Initially, when I first stepped into the internship facility as an
intern, I was very worried because I was afraid that I would not be able to
integrate into the new environment, with a professional team... but I was
very lucky because everyone always helped me and gave me advice to help
me feel more comfortable and confident. Gradually I felt like I was
becoming more sociable and integrating with everyone.
My job is mainly to translate documents from English into Vietnamese and
vice versa. While I had no prior experience in this field, the mentor and a
colleague gave me an in-depth introduction and guide carefully on the first
day, helping me get ready to hit the ground running. Making mistakes
during my translation process is inevitable, so in order to have a complete
translation, I received feedback and learned a lot.
During my internship at the company, I significantly improved my
communication skills, other soft skills, specialized knowledge of
automation, and knowledge of translation methods to avoid unnecessary
errors. Thank you Automech.

Part 4: Conclusion
4. Your self-development orientation after the internship course.
After the internship course, I have found that translation is a good career
and it can be suitable for me. I also love this field but I still have limited
experience, knowledge, and skills to become a professional translator in the
future. To develop myself in the future, I have to:
- Improve my English (grammar and vocabulary as well as all the four
language skills)
-Practice translating written documents, such as books, news, and journals.
-Research to understand different cultures and to use accurate jargon, slang,
or expressions.
- Improve computer skills (typing skills as I would be dealing with written
documents)
- Become fluent in another language, fluent in the source language, master
of the target language, and have good knowledge of the different fields.
-Manage time efficiently to meet project deadlines
Being a good or professional translator in the future is not easy for me, so I
have to effort, to improve my skills, professional knowledge...After I
graduate, I hope I can find a job that is suitable for my level. The internship
is a useful time for me to learn, apply knowledge that I have learned at the
school to put it into practice. I hope after the internship process I can
improve my knowledge, skills also professional experience to reach my
goals in the future.
