GREETINGS

Beloved choirs around the world,

When it comes to pursuing hobbies and activities that bring joy and fulfillment to our lives, joining
a choir often goes overlooked.
However, the benefits of participating in a choir are numerous and can positively impact various
aspects of your life.
One of the remarkable benefits of joining a choir is the boost it can give to your confidence and
self-esteem.
Participating in group singing can help individuals overcome shyness and stage fright since the
emphasis is on the group’s overall sound, rather than individual performance.
The guidance of a skilled choir director, along with the encouragement and support of fellow choir
members,
can help you improve vocal techniques and enhance your singing abilities.
As you witness your progress and contribute to the collective musicality,
you will experience a boost in self-assurance which will also have a positive impact on other areas
of your life.
So, take a leap of faith, join PICF 2024!
and grow not only as a musician but as a well-being person as well because being in a choir will
bring joy and fulfilment to our lives,

“Enhance your well-being through choral singing!”

Looking forward to see you all,

PICF Committee

WELCOME MESSAGE

Beloved conductors and choristers,

Let us sincerely sing out loud a love in the air for everyone,
We are grateful to the Lord, the Almighty, for bestowing us with His grace
and blessings, allowing us to organize the 6th PENABUR INTERNATIONAL
CHOIR FESTIVAL (PICF) 2024 after having it online in 2022. We should
mark this event with a sense of soberness and delight.

Since its establishment in 1950, BPK PENABUR Jakarta has played a

significant role in the education field in Indonesia. Currently, it operates in 15
cities, one of which is BPK PENABUR Jakarta who manage to organize PICF
program every two years. Within its 26 campuses. BPK PENABUR Jakarta
houses a total of 79 schools, starting from kindergarten to high school, and
currently serves a student population of 30,000. With such a large number
of students, it is our mission to nurture and develop their diverse talents and
gifts, as part of our responsibility to the world and to glorify the name of God.
Singing, whether performed solo or in a choral singing, as one of the numerous
gifts from God that we must cultivate is a “universal language” that can unite
people all over the world.

A demonstration of this concept can be observed through the utilization of

a “theme song” in every Olympic performance, which highlights the idea
that we are all creations of a LOVING CREATOR, promoting unity among
nations by encouraging them to put aside differences and egos.

Through choir, we instil in our children the value of expressing “love” through
harmonious and soulful voices. Having international participants in the
PICF program will undoubtedly enhance the exchange of knowledge and
perspectives among all participants, leading to improved communication,
building a deep understanding of different cultures and personalities from
around the world is easily achievable, as we share a common bond through
our pure love for singing.
Our expectation is that PICF will not only witness and delight in the melodic
voices of each participant. Furthermore, this small action helps to foster
an environment of peace and teaches us the value of respect and building
friendships with others.

Cheers,

Purnomo Sigit
Board member of BPK PENABUR Jakarta

WELCOME MESSAGE

Dear All,

Countless studies have been devoted to investigating the advantages of singing

on overall well-being, and the results are convincing. Engaging in singing
prompts the release of endorphins, which can increase feelings of energy and
excitement. Those who make singing a part of their routine often experience
better health outcomes than those who do not.

Furthermore, an evidence suggests that engaging in choral singing can have

beneficial impacts on mental health, including boosting brain function,
promoting a sense of togetherness, and causing the release of endorphins and
oxytocin, ultimately reducing stress and depression. The act of singing in a
choir allows for sharing, laughter, and enjoyment, while also creating a secure
environment to explore new talents.

BPK PENABUR as one of the top educational institutions in Indonesia,

recognizes this crucial role of health in attaining holistic human development.
By embracing the motto “Enhance your well-being through choral singing!”,
PICF seeks to facilitate choir members in their ability to express themselves and
positively influence the well-being of all people, ultimately generating positive
energy across the globe.

The presence of esteemed international judges at PICF is aimed to guarantee

that all choirs/participants are of high-caliber and exceptional quality.

All the best,

Avip Priatna
Artistic Director
