Name__________________

1) List 2 things you can not do while dribbling a basketball.

2) Where was basketball invented?

Results: I was very pleased with this assessment. Many of the students received a 100 on it. Some
students put “cannot dribble with head down”, while this is true, it is not what I was looking for on this
assessment since it is not a rule rather than a safety issue and correct practice.

Dribbling Peer observation checklist:

Ex:
● Put an “x” for everything that you observed.

Dribbling Used fingertips Kept ball at waist Identified Picked the ball up
level numbers from < 3 times
partner

Partner 1

Partner 2

Result: This worked very well. All of the students completed this assessment and were able to keep up. I
was a little concerned about the “identified numbers from partner” since the partner who was
completing the evaluation also had to put up numbers but it ended up working very well and I got good
feedback from this as well as my observations.

Daily check in:

Beginning of class:
Think to yourself how I can best participate in the activities today.

End of class:
Did I do my best today?
- If yes, how can I keep this up or do even better tomorrow?
- If not, how can I get better for tomorrow?
How did my actions affect my classmates?
Result: I really liked this idea and hope to keep up with it. It was a good informal way to get students
thinking about how their actions affect others and just keeping students accountable for showing up and
being active in the class.

Teacher observation Rubric:

during the modified game play. modified game play. - Dribbling

- Shooting

Name of student Level achieved # of times observed

Result: I had a difficult time watching every single student throughout the class, especially since it was a
game situation, not everyone is touching the ball at the same time so I found it difficult to do this
assessment. Despite this, I got some good information on how my previous three lessons impacted
students' learning and ability to play a basketball game.

Post test:

Name:_________________________

1) Where was basketball invented?

2) Why was it invented?

3) What was the reason that basketball was invented?

4) When dribbling a basketball, what did one thing that you can not do?
5) Name two types of passes you can make in basketball.

Bonus:
What is the name of your favorite basketball team or player?

Result: This test went very well. 85% of the class received a 100 and the lowest grade was only an 80. I
was very pleased with how this turned out. If I were to do this again I may make it a little harder next
time. Since many of these questions will be on their final exam, I thought it would be a good practice for
them to start thinking about them and remembering them now.

Grading system:

- After the completion of the unit, students will be graded on the following criteria.

Category Weight

Attendance 30%
