Different tools in animal

production
Quarter 1 AGRICULTURE 10 Activity 1
Animal Production is the technology applied to the keeping of
animals for profit. This includes; feeding, breeding, housing,
and marketing. The most important aspect is making of the
financial arrangements necessary for the successful carrying
out of each enterprise in the light of the market conditions
for the sale of the end products.

2. Incubator
3. Feeding Trough
4. Water Trough
5. Feed Bin
6. Animal Ear tag
7. Baskets
8. Sprinkler
9. Animal Nose Rings
10. Manure spreader
Baskets are valuable tools in poultry
farming, serving various purposes such
as collecting and transporting eggs,
moving chicks, distributing feed, and
storing materials. They enhance
efficiency and organization on the
poultry farm while ensuring the well-
being of the birds.

The Sprinklers help regulate

temperature, humidity, and dust levels,
creating a comfortable and healthy
environment for poultry birds. This
promotes their well-being, productivity,
and overall growth.

Nose rings are used to control bulls and

occasionally cows, and to help wean
young cattle by preventing suckling.
Nose rings are used on pigs to
discourage rooting.

A manure spreader or muck spreader or

honey wagon is an agricultural machine
used to distribute manure over a field
as a fertilizer.
A brooder is used to keep the chicks
warm during this crucial time. A brooder
is a heated container that can have its
temperature controlled in at least one
area. It is used to confine chicks with
their feeds and water until they are 2
weeks old and ready to go outside.

The incubator is an insulated enclosure in

which temperature, humidity, and other
environmental conditions can be regulated
at levels optimal for growth, hatching, or
reproduction. There are three principal
kinds of incubators: poultry incubators,
infant incubators, and bacteriological
incubators.

A trough in which is placed food for

animals, especially for swine. noun A long,
narrow trough, about 18 inches wide, 4
inches deep, and 1,500 feet long, placed
between the rails of a railway track and
partly filled with water.

A watering trough (or artificial watering

point) is a man-made or natural receptacle
intended to provide drinking water to
animals, livestock on farms or ranches, or
wild animals.

Feed bins are containers where feeds are

stored for future use. Feeds can also be
kept in petroleum cans, which are cheap,
rat proof, and if painted, will last
longer.

The animal ear tag is a plastic or metal

object used for identification of
livestock and other animals. If the ear
tag uses Radio Frequency Identification
Device (RFID) technology it is referred
to as an electronic ear tag.
