Apparatus: polystyrene cups, thermometer, 100 mL, measuring cylinder
Materials: 2M NaOH, 2M HCl, distilled water

1. Using a measuring cylinder, place 20 mL of sodium hydroxide in the polystyrene cup.
2. Record the highest temperature.
3. Add 15 mL of hydrochloric acid to the solution.
4. Stir the mixture and record the highest temperature reached.
