Advocating for Sustainable Change

Welcome to this presentation on Advocating for Sustainable Change, where we

will delve into significant health issues impacting the well-being of the Jordan
SF

community. These issues include mental health challenges among school-age

children, inadequate access to health insurance, and suboptimal management of
chronic health conditions. This presentation underscores the urgent need for a
healthcare change proposal supported by robust data to effectively tackle these
health concerns. The proposed changes aim to enhance mental health support
R

for children and adolescents, improve health insurance coverage, and effectively
manage chronic diseases among low-income individuals by leveraging
U

governmental policies, such as providing free treatment for pre-existing

conditions like chronic health diseases.

Brief Overview of Environmental Analysis of Jordan Community

A thorough analysis of the environmental conditions in the Jordan community

R

was conducted through a windshield and environmental survey, providing

insights into positive features and areas requiring improvement.
U

Positive Features of the Jordan Community:

N

The small town offers basic amenities, enabling children and adolescents to
attend school, community members to engage in recreational activities, and
access healthcare services from hospitals. Community members have
demonstrated resilience and a willingness to collaboratively address health

issues, fostering a strong sense of unity within the neighborhood. Their readiness
for change ensures a resilient and healthy community.

Areas for Improvement:

Despite positive aspects, the community faces challenges, including prevalent

mental health issues among school students, leading to tragic outcomes.
Additionally, limited health insurance coverage and financial barriers to obtaining
medication for chronic conditions pose significant health challenges. The

m
proposed change addresses these issues and has the potential to bring about
positive transformations.

o
Social Determinants Impacting Community Health

.c
Various social determinants, primarily education and economic instability, impact
community health. While school institutions exist, the lack of health literacy in
PX
educational systems affects students' mental health. Economic instability hinders
access to essential health services, leading to limited health insurance coverage
and reliance on self-financing for treatments. The proposed change addresses
these social determinants through resource allocation and support from local
health advocates.
SF

Change Proposal Framework

Our change proposal is structured on the following framework to address the

R

lacking areas of the Jordan community's health:

U

Conducting Interaction-Based Mental Health Programs in Schools: Providing

mental health support to affected students and managing their thought patterns.
Creating Health Insurance Improvement Plans: Advocating for expanded access
N

to Medicaid and Medicare services to enhance health insurance coverage.

Empowering the Population to Acquire Health Insurance Coverage: Enrolling in
ACA’s policy for treatment care in patients with pre-existing and chronic health
conditions.

The goals include reducing suicide attempts, increasing complete health
insurance coverage, and enhancing community members' knowledge of ACA
policy for chronic diseases to improve health outcomes.

Rationale for Policy and Financial Support

The Jordanian community requires a comprehensive change proposal to address

emerging health issues, including mental health, insufficient health insurance
coverage, and poor management of chronic conditions. The proposed changes

m
can be accomplished through governmental policies and financial assistance.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) policy, with expanded Medicaid and Medicare
access, is crucial to address health concerns. Prohibiting insurance companies

o
from denying coverage or charging high premiums to patients with pre-existing
conditions, including chronic diseases, is essential. This approach ensures

.c
equitable health access, manages chronic conditions effectively, and promotes
positive health outcomes.
PX
These policies will alleviate the lack of health insurance among deserving
community populations and ensure access to necessary healthcare services.
The rationale for policy and financial support is grounded in the understanding
that chronic diseases are expensive to treat, prevention is preferable, and
SF

adequate funding is necessary to manage health issues effectively.

Evidence for Proposed Changes

R

Evidence-based research supports our proposed systemic changes to improve

health outcomes in Jordan’s community. Mental health issues in schools have
U

increased globally, with 81% of teenagers experiencing problems during

COVID-19. Interaction-based mental health programs in schools have been
shown to effectively manage stress, reduce suicidal attempts, and improve
N

well-being. The lack of healthcare insurance is a significant issue, and proposed

strategies, such as expanded access to Medicare and Medicaid, can facilitate
access to medical facilities, improving health outcomes. Educating the population
on governmental policies like ACA can provide health insurance access to those

with chronic diseases and low incomes. The proposed changes are based on
practical evidence and research studies, offering a beneficial approach to
addressing the community's health issues.

Broad Budget Estimates

To implement our change proposal effectively, we have developed broad budget

estimates that allocate resources realistically. The first-year operational cost is
$520,000, including startup costs of $24,000. Human resources constitute a

m
significant portion, with the project manager receiving $60,000 and support staff,
mental health specialists, and health professionals collectively accounting for
$250,000 annually. Additional resources include educational materials and

o
equipment ($50,000), health insurance for staff members ($25,000),
consultations and contract services ($30,000), and travel and contingency

.c
expenses ($30,000 and $15,000, respectively). These resources are crucial for
implementing and sustaining the proposed changes, forming a life-saving
PX
investment for a healthier and economically stable community.

Plan for Transformational, Evidence-Based Change

Our vision for change is to improve health in all age groups of Jordan’s
SF

community by addressing mental health conditions in school-going children and

managing health outcomes for patients with chronic diseases. The proposed
changes will be implemented through Prosci’s Three-Phase process, integrating
the ADKAR change model.
R

Three-Phase Process:
U

Preparing for Change: Raising awareness and creating a desire for change
among the community.
N

Managing the Change: Collaboratively implementing the required changes with a

focus on communication and team alignment.
Reinforcing Change: Evaluating, reinforcing, and sustaining changes while
promoting continuous improvements.

Throughout this process, effective communication through social media and other
channels will be prioritized to ensure team alignment and keep all members
informed. The project managers will play a crucial role in organizing and directing
the proposed change.

Vision for Future Wellness, Health, and Role of Visionary Leadership

Our vision aligns with Healthy People 2030 objectives to enhance health
outcomes for all people and ensure access to healthcare services. Promoting

m
health equity and reducing disparities is in line with Healthy People 2030 goals.
The benefits of this vision include improved public health, equity, inclusiveness,
and collaboration among stakeholders. Risks involve limited resources,

o
unforeseen factors, complex problems, and challenges in measuring success.

.c
Transformational leadership is essential for driving these changes, focusing on
high performance, motivation, visionary communication, empowerment,
PX
collaboration, and team building. This leadership style fosters an environment
where team members contribute to positive change, ensuring resilience in the
face of challenges. By adopting this leadership style, we aim to address current
health concerns and improve overall health outcomes in Jordan's community.
