SUBJECT: Potential Gas Leak – Fuel Inlet Piping

MODELS AFFECTED: All VHP GL, GSI and LT 12-Cylinder Extender* Models Built 2006 to
Present

SAFETY ALERT: Failure to comply with this safety

alert could result in personal injury or equipment 1
damage. All field sites should be inspected and, if 3
necessary, corrected as soon as feasible.
Fuel gas leaks have been reported on VHP
12-cylinder Extender engines built with the single
fuel inlet piping. INNIO Waukesha gas engines
takes fuel gas leaks very seriously and requires
all subject engines to have leak tests performed.
Leaks have been reported at both the vertical 1
and horizontal metal flex connections.

• At the first opportunity, check the single fuel
inlet pipes for leaks. 4

– Check the entire system, with particular 2

attention to the flex sections and gasketed 1
joints.
• Leak checks may be performed by infrared Figure 1:
thermal imaging, soap bubble test, methane

• Be certain that the new parts are installed
without any misalignment at the flex
connection.
• As is general good practice
– Make sure that the engine room ventilation
system is working properly.
– Do not enter the engine room unless
necessary.
– Follow all INNIO Waukesha and site-specific
safety precautions.
