Adding Ducts

Exercise 15
1. Start Revit 2019

2. Open the file Exercise_15.rvt

3. Go to Mechanical / HVAC / Ceiling Plans / 00 Ground - HVAC

4. Start Mechanical Settings command, select Angles under Duct Settings,


click Use specific angles option, and uncheck 11.25, 22.5, 30, click OK

5. Select the AHU, from the left of AHU click the small square with x inside it,
from Properties select Rectangular Duct – Mitered Elbows / Tees, and
from Options bar, leave the Width and Height as default. Draw 7180mm
horizontal duct, then 2800mm vertical duct

6. Click the horizontal duct you just did, right-click, select Create Similar, use
alignment line with the bottom vertical duct, and draw downwards a
2800mm vertical duct

7. Click the vertical duct you just did, right-click, select Create Similar, from
the mid of the duct, draw a horizontal duct 10700mm, then draw a vertical
duct, aligned with the two vertical ducts

8. In the mid of the 10700mm duct draw a vertical duct to feed the two air
terminals

9. Zoom to the room at the left. Select the vertical duct, right-click, select
Create Similar, use alignment line with the air terminal at the left, and draw
a horizontal duct 700mm long. Click the air terminal, right-click, select
Draw Flex Duct, connect it to the 700mm long duct

10. Click the Rectangular Tee, then click (+) sign at the right, to convert it to
Rectangular Cross. Select the Rectangular Cross, right-click the right part,
and select Draw Duct, and draw a 700mm duct. Click the air terminal,
right-click, select Draw Flex Duct, connect it to the 700mm long duct

11. Repeat this process again for the other rooms

12. Go to Mechanical / HVAC / 3D View, to see the work you just did

13. Go to Mechanical / HVAC / Ceiling Plans / 00 Ground - HVAC

14. Select the AHU, from the right of AHU click the small square with / inside
it, from Properties select Rectangular Duct – Mitered Elbows / Tees, and
from Options bar, set Width = 300, and Height = 300. From Options bar,
set Offset = 3500mm, draw a 2000mm horizontal duct, then 3200mm
vertical duct

15. Click the vertical duct you just did, right-click, select Create Similar, from
the mid of the duct, draw a horizontal duct 6000mm, then draw a vertical
duct, aligned with the vertical duct

16. Select the return air terminal the most right office, from context tab, click
Connect Into button, and select the main duct (magenta)

17. Click the Rectangular Tee, then click (+) sign at the left, to convert it to
Rectangular Cross. Select the Rectangular Cross, right-click the right part,
and select Draw Duct, connect the duct with the return air terminal

18. Repeat the same procedure for the other return air terminals

19. Go to Mechanical / HVAC / 3D View, to see the work you just did

20. Save and close the file
