POSCON JOYSTICK-SYSTE! SYSTEM OVERVIEW. The Poscon is a microprossessor based joystick remote control system, designed to control the heading/ movement of the ship. The control equipment is delivered in a standard cubicle, with a rack of standard three units height. The upper section includes power-supply and the interface card. The center section, the main computer with its memory etc.. The lower section is for external connections. ® In addition to the cabinet, the Poscon includes one or more panels. The panel(s) may be disconnected from the main computer. Just one of the panel will take the current IN COMMAND. The Poscon is able to control bow and stern thrusters, 2 main propellers, and 2 rudders. The propeller units will be activeted by the computer, dependent of 1) the ordersignals from the joystick panel, 2) the signal from the gyro compas and 3) the ready signals from the propeller units. The heading is controlled by a computer controller. Based on information of actual heading, this controller will compute the action. It is possible to set the course priority/ gain from the panel by the function COURSE GAIN. Standard value is 5. Lower value of COURSE GAIN will increase the joystick factor and reduce the factor of e the heading. Higher value is opposite,- and results that power is taken from the x-component (ahead/astern) to keep the correct heading. Another function is COUNTER RUDDER. This function calculates how the new heading is controlled. Standard value is 5. Lower value means that the ship may go into the new heading without counter rudder/pitch. Higher value results in higher power at the new heading (with opposite vectors) and prevent overshoot. Kjopmannsge. 23, N-6025 Alesund, Norway Switchboard + 47 71 29929. PANEL INSTALLATION Installation of panel(s) is different from ship to ship. On some ships itis installed one or more fixed mounted panei(s), eventually placed in the manoeuvring console. On other ships it is installed just one portable panel with one or more multiconnectors on the bridge, eventually the bridge wings. If more than one connectors are used, all connectors for forward facing are connected in parallell, and all for aft facing in parallel. ‘The panel is connected to the main computer via a multicable with a connector of "Amphenol" type. It is possible to disconnect the panel (cable) when the panel is in command. In this circumstances the responsibility will change to the last manual station, the computer will change to the STAND BY mode. When the panel is reconnected it is necessary to call the command and man.mode again if you want joystick control. NOTE!! Never connect more than one portable panel simultaneously. THE FAULT MONITORING SYSTEM STANDBY: In this mode the following errors maybe recognized: - Error in the serial communication ports to panels. - Gyro converter errors. - Analogue output error - Watchdog failure, NORMAL: The errors are recorded in an internal register. The first error will be shown in the error code display, and the following errors will be shown by pressing the ACK button on the test panel. This button will also reset the sound alarm. ‘The internal error register is organised in a circular manner, so that when you have leafed through all errors, the display will show the first error again. The error codes are grouped in two categories: 1: ERRORS THAT WILL CHANGE THE SYSTEM TO MANUAL CONTROL. 2: ERRORS THAT WILL NOT CHANGE THE SYSTEM TO MANUAL CONTROL. On the previous page you will find a list of the errors, and group 1 is indicated with a *. EXAMPLE: (Error that cause change over to manual). "A/D CONVERTER 10 V REG." ‘The computer recognises the fault and set up message no. 30 All output orders are set to zero, and the control program is stopped. ‘The ERROR lamp is blinking, and the sound alarm on the panel computer is activated. Error code no. E69 is shown on the panel computer display, and the text "COMPUTER ERROR" will come up (blinking) in the upper left comer. The error may be acknowledged by pressing the ACK. button on the test panel in the main computer, or by the ACKNOWLEDGE switch below the COMPUTER ERROR lamp on the panel. The sound alarm on the panel will not stop without using the ACKNOWLEDGE switch. The ERROR lamp will now lit continuously. The trouble shooting may now be started. The display will be set to 00 when pressing once more on the ACK. button if no other serious error is present. The lamps NORMAL and STAND BY/RESET will lit alternately, and indicates that RESET is necessary. Normally the AUTOMATIC RECOVER is not activated. If however the RECOVER parameter is active, it is not necessary to press RESET. ‘Anerror under category no 2 will not change the system over to MANUAL, and the control program will run continuously. ‘The acknowledge procedure is the same as described above. This will cause the processor on the D/A controller card to initialise properly. If not, we may get the errorcode 31. D/A CONVERTER 10 V. ‘The RESET must then be repeated until the error is removed. If we get gyro errors after RESET, there will be errorcode 17, 18 or 19 displayed on the frontpanel of the main computer. The system will not start normal functions, indicated by dark lights above the MANUAL and INCOMMAND buttons. They will remain dark until the errors disappears. The gyro errors will disappear automatically when the gyrorepeater transmits new changed heading, The lights for MANUAL and IN COMMAND will be turned on for the active operator panel. Gyro errors appearing when in STANDBY and NORMAL mode however will be indicated as, follows: If in NORMAL mode the system will enter STANDBY mode. The errorcode 17, 18 or 19 will be displayed at the frontpanel of the computer. The Errorlamp and the Std.by lamp will be lit. On the operator panel, the HEADING display will flash and the OFF COURSE alarm will be activated. It is now not possible to enter the NORMAL mode. When the gyro error is fixed, all the error indications will disappear automatically and we may enter the NORMAL mode again. SETUP PARAMETERS FOR THRUSTERS AND AZIMUTH/VROS. Check the parameters for the thrusters. To obtain correct compensation when a thruster trip it is important that the parameters BOW_DEF and STERN_DEF are refered to all units installed. Values are 01H or 02H. Note if the installation includes two stern thrusters, the INPCARD_2 parameter must be 01H, because the ready signal to this thruster is connected to the input card no 2. Note also if an AZIMUTH/VROS is installed, the parameter INPCARD_2 must be set to 01H if this card should be read. (The VROS angle 0,90,180,270 is connected to the input card no. 2). The parameter VROS must also be 01H. Check the input contact for zero angle when VROS is in ahead direction. Set the system in Joystick mode and set out an ahead order. This order should be a positive order. Eventually change the polarity if not correct, Further set the VROS to 90 degrees and check the order, change contacts for 90 and 270 degrees if not correct. ‘As the VROS unit normally has propeller design with unsymmetrical power vectors for ahead and astern set the VROS_COMP for compensating the negative order. The initial value is 40% (VROS_COMP = 00 04H). It is now possible to control the direction of the Azimuth unit. In Joystick mode the direction may be set to the fixed positions 0, 90 or 270 degrees from the operator’s panel. ‘When in AUTOP. FORE mode, the direction may also be set to the fixed position 90 and 270 degrees, but when pressing the 0 degree switch the Azimuth unit is controlled by the course deviation and the joystick lever position. ‘The default positions for both Joystick and Autopilot is 90 degree and may be changed by 2 parameters, AZIMJOYPOS and AZIMAUTPOS. Parameter values: = 0 degrees, 1= 90 degrees, 2= 270 degrees. ULSTEIN PROPELLER AS Page 15 of 26 \UPRDAKI\EL_DES\KONSTRUOYSTICKENGSE303,.D0C REV: 07.03.00 Vickers Ulstein Marine Systems 9, TESTS BEFORE POWER UP. Before power up, check these items: ~ The connection between the gyro and the repeater/converter (LR 40). This converter is to be connected only by Ulstein personnel, Check also the connection between the converter and the computer terminal. - Check voltage and polarity of both power supplies. Itis important that the source keep a sufficient voltage also under full load. - Check the wiring between the panels and the terminal list L43. - Check the wiring of the order signal to all propulsion units. ‘Also against short circuit and mixing of channels. - Check input/output of the "Call" and "Ready" signals. ‘When the system is powered up, it is possible to "Switch on" the connected panel. It may also be possible to get light in the "INCOMMAND" and "MANUAL" switches, but it is not possible to go into "JOYSTICK" or "AUTOPILOT" mode before necessary propeller units give "READY" signal, - or the simulating switches for "READY" are activated. Do not forget to disengage the simulating switches after the commissioning. Check also that it is possible to leave the Joystick control by pressing "IN COMMAND" at one of the manual bridge panel for the main propellers. Same for Autopilot fore and aft modus. LRA0 is part of a family of Digital Gyro Repeaters: LA40, LR6O & LR61. The LR40is designed for incremental transmission systems, such as 6 step-per degree or 360:1 synchro systems while the LR60 is designed for self-aligning 1:1 systems synchro systems. The LR61 is designed for dual compass 1:1 synchro systems with a dual-compass-compare function. This family of ScanRepeaters is also know as *Lehmkuhl Repeaters", and earlier models were LR10, LR15, LR22 and LR32. LR40 decodes the gyro transmission signal, displays heading data, analog turning information and provides Various serial data outputs for stave repeaters and/or navigation computers. A built-in monitor system is constantly checking the gyro signals and displays a visual alarm in case of malfunction. 4.1.1. HEADING DISPLAY e ‘The HEADING DISPLAY is a large super-bright LED display that you can read at a distance of 10 meters or more. The decimal digit is made smaller in order to prevent misreading of the heading, 1.1.2. ANALOG TURNING INDICATOR ‘The ANALOG TURNING INDICATOR is a ring of 30 bright, solid state lamps (LED's). Five evenly spaced lamps light up at the same time. When the ship is turning to starboard, all five lights rotate in a ‘clockwise direction, and correspondingly in an anti-clockwise direction for a port side turning of the ship. Before software version 3.0 the Analog Turning Indicator would step 6 step per degree. This has now changes as follow: ‘The ANALOG TURNING INDICATOR will step one step for each change in heading as decoded from the master compass or as received on the serial data input. This change is in effect with Software version 3.0, see 1.2. VERSIONS below. Example a): When connected to a 6 step per degree output --the Turning Indicator will step one step for each 1/6 of a degree -- as before. i Example b): When receiving NMEA serial data, the Turning Indicator will step one ‘step for each e@ ‘change in heading received. Please also note that the Analog Turning Indicator is no longer programmable. 1.1.3. OPERATOR CONTROL Use the three touch buttons, with “tactile feedback”, to control brilliance, to align initial display reading and to initiate test functions. REMOTE CONTROL is also possible. 1.2.
