Chapter 1: The problem and it’s setting

A. Introduction

One of the strands offered in the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) Track in Senior High
School is Information Communication and Technology (ICT). It is designed to provide you with
the technical skills and knowledge in using tools and equipment that allows people to interact in
the digital world. ICT is technology that supports activities involving information. Such
activities include gathering, processing, storing and presenting data. Increasingly these activities
also involve collaboration and communication. Hence IT has become ICT: information and
communication technology Under this strand, you will learn relevant skills and knowledge in
various disciplines such as illustration, web designing and computer programming. This will also
help to enhance their skills in animation and illustration which will help them thrive in the
creative field. ICT tools enable anytime, anywhere access to information and resources. Given
the proliferation of internet connectivity, the curriculum recognizes the fact that being connected
to the internet offers tremendous benefits to teachers in terms of capabilities to access
information and resources of various kinds and to utilize them in their teaching-learning.. The
best thing about this strand is that you can earn a National Certificate (NC), provided that you
pass the assessments from TESDA. National Certificates can help boost you chances for
employment in the future
.
ICT has become one of the aspects that is very much considered in the world of education from
now on. The use of ICT in planning, process, and evaluation of learning is a very lively
discussion discussed by Indonesian education practitioners. Asrial (2019).

Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature
This chapter presents the review of related literature and studies on the Analysis on the
Proficiency of ICT students in Computer System Servicing. The perceptions, benefits and
challenges will be discussed.

Related Literature
Alandejani, J&Almandani, F. (2018). Stated that ICT in education has become a vital component
in ensuring that the country’s workforce is skilled and prepared to address development
problems and worldwide employment possibilities. Computer System Servicing is very vital to
students in this modem generation, as it covers basic and common competencies including
installing, maintaining, configuring, and diagnosing computer systems and networks.

We should bear in mind that the main challenge now is how to address this technological
approach to the teaching and learning process. According to Herrera (2015), technology and its
contributions are changing. And rapidly changing the realms of knowledge It is possible to find
it here. It is recognized that education, as a discipline, is facing new issues that require further
investigation. Teachers have seen their role change into that of agents with the ability to generate
the necessary skills for a society yearning for technological knowledge and frequent use of it in
various educational matters as a result of the transformative vision of a society that needs to
integrate ICT into the classroom.

Most universities that have fully adopted ICT have recorded immense advancement in the
application of ICT for the improvement of learning methods, teaching, research, and
development. J.E Lawrence (2015).

J.S. FU.(2013). Stated that the second issue is that technology advancements make it harder to
distinguish their impact from that of their surroundings. As a result, such study attracts a lot of
criticism because rapid technological developments will render the utilized parameters
worthless, and thus no definite results can be made from such studies. Furthermore, many of the
studies on this topic are based on scientific comparative studies. These studies show that
implementing ICT in educational institutions can improve the quality of the institution.
Furthermore, the majority of studies have focused on cognitive outcomes, with the exception of a
few recent studies that have discovered beneficial treatments.

Technology has changed the educational landscape because of information, the speed with which
information can be accessed, and the variety of learning options available. Computer System
Servicing is a great way to help students enhance their grades. It can improve their abilities and
configuration wit the internet and information technology. (Moskal,2018).

Solar et al. (2013). Suggest that incorporating ICT into the classroom improves the quality of
learning and education. This is in line with Gallegos et al. [19], who claim that a country’s ICT
policies and regulations must be effective and robust at all levels in order to improve education
quality.

Related Studies
Information communication technology (ICT) is among the latest innovations that has
revolutionized various operations in the close. It is particularly important in the field of
education since it has recently created such platforms and opportunities that have facilitated to
some extent the acquisition of knowledge. This phenomenon has been highlighted in this study
which indicates how students view ICT as a component of their study program. From the results
of the questionnaire, it has been evident that a majority of the respondent’s value ICT, and each
of them feels that they should have the gadgets to be able to adopt ICT more closely.

Another revelation of this study was that students who score higher grades in GPA are more
interested in ICT than their colleagues who score lower grades. This is likely because ICT
demands some basic knowledge for anyone to embrace it. Brighter students are therefore more
likely to embrace ICT. Furthermore, ICT requires concentration of the participants, and this
makes people to remain brighter to embrace the technology. It was also revealed in this study
that social science students readily adopt ICT more than their other counterparts. This is because
most of their courses involve social networking, and ICT becomes a major factor in regulating
the social interactions. It is necessary to consider the fact that social sciences bring people
together, and ICT too, through social networking, brings people closer and breaks the
geographical barriers that hinder communication. An interesting finding of this study states that
there has been an increased use of ICT particularly to search for information related to studies.
Adoption of ICT therefore is very high among the university students as majority (more than
two-thirds) use ICT at least for two hours in a day. Hence, there is need to offer full support to
students’ access of ICT as it has the potential to improve their academic performance. At the
same time, this has also been observed in this study that a majority of the students who use the
ICT for academic purposes are also involved in the use of social media which consumes a lot of
their time. This is consistent with the findings of Sánchez et al. Care should be taken by these
students to create a balance between constructive use of ICT and ordinary social networking .
From the study, there is also a strong indication that, in terms of gender, females have adopted
ICT more than their male counterparts. The study thus hints that female students are capable of
making quicker communication using their smart phones as compared to male students. This
concludes that social networking or the social networks are frequented by females more than
males. ICT has also made it possible for female students to participate in activities that they were
not able to do on other platforms or occasions due to the restrictions for the females in society.

These skills are particularly important for those in the technical and engineering disciplines. This
study found that student’s conception of ICT skills were mainly as informative, constructive,
communicative or situated tools. Some of the challenge’s students faced in acquiring ICT skills
were related to internet connectivity, lack of software and hardware resources and lack of
software and hardware. Resources and lack of practical skills.

Therefore, Computer Systems Servicing Android-based Simulation App was created in six
stages, which included system planning, system analysis, system design, and system
implementation. The design process includes system testing, integration, and maintenance. In
terms of functional suitability, usability, reliability, performance efficiency, and portability,
acceptability is Highly Effective. One of the system’s upgrades is the addition of 5S to the
system. Precautions, Occupational Safety and Health, Personal Protective Equipment, SATA,
and other necessary construction measures Mismatch.
Chapter 3: Methodology
Research Design
The research design is a Quantitative Research. The design used for this study is Descriptive
Research design. The goal of descriptive research is to find out who, what, where, when, and
how much something costs. As a result, this approach is utilized when the primary goal of the
research is to simply observe and describe a phenomenon as it occurs. The research chooses this
design to know the proficiency of the ICT students in learning the Computer System Servicing.
The researchers tends to know the challenges, benefits and perceptions of the ICT students. This
design will perfectly fit in the questions because it helps the researchers to have the opinions of
the respondents.

the study. By following a random selection of individual students of Senior High School in the
field of Information and Communication Technology of Sta.Catalina National High School. The
researchers selected Forty(40) ICT students to be the respondents by the time of their
availability. The researchers used Simple Random Sampling to identify the respondents of the
study.

Research Instrument
The major instrument used in this study is the self-handmade survey questionnaires. The
questionnaire was designed to obtain information on the Proficiency of ICT students in
Computer System Servicing for 40 ICT students in Sta. Catalina National High School for S.Y.
2021-2022. It consisted of 3 tables and was validated through the researchers advice and
statistician.

Data Gathering Procedure

In order to collect data, the researcher went through a series of steps. First, the researcher sought
the panelists’ validation and approval of the survey-questionnaire. Second, the researcher sought
permission from the principal to conduct the study. Third, the researcher conducted the study
with the participants who had been chosen. Fourth, the researcher went out of his way to retrieve
