Everyone else in the class wanted to sell food. There were groups making fairy
bread and groups selling milkshakes. One group was going to sell candy apples.
Jay came up with a different plan. He would stick balloons to a dart board. For $1,
kids could have three darts to pop a balloon. The only thing he needed to buy was
some balloons. Jay felt sure it would succeed. But on market day, Jay was
disappointed. Hardly anyone came to throw darts. They were too busy buying
frosted drinks and rainbow-colored bread. The crispy, crunchy taco stall was a real
hit. It looked like his balloon game would fail.
“Wow! That looks like fun,” said a kid, coming over. Pretty soon there was a long
line. Now that’s better, thought Jay, smiling.
