 1. Introduction:
The Seattle children hospital consider to be one of the most recognizable hospitals
in the USA which well known for curing children. It was founded at 1907 by Anna
Herr Clise and her husband in Pacific Northwest in USA that their main aim is to
provide the necessary to cure children that are diagnose with different diseases and
provide the care and the skills that the doctors and physician have in order to save
children lives and fulfil their family needs.

2. The problem:

The hospital is looking at ways which could help in deceasing the inefficiencies
and improving their quality, safety and procedure which can help in improving

their image for everyone. However, the problem that the Seattle children hospital
they spend a very long time in analyzing data of the patient visits, the long waiting
lines the patient need to wait because of the delays and other factors that could
result in the inefficiency of the hospital also the lack of more data insight which the
business managers and stakeholders can’t identify which can create the problem of
decision making and result in low efficiency in addition to the lack of proper data
result for the financial analyst, clinicians, doctors and researcher along with the
poor of dashboard which is the tool that receives data from a linked database to
provide a visualization of the data collected for easy reading as well as decision
making.

3. The objective:

Their main object is to decrease and eliminate inefficiency and to find the root of
the problem they face in the hospital with a use of a better dashboard in order for
stakeholders, managers, doctors and researchers to make a better decision making
to increase efficiency and save more children lives.

4. The solution

In order to resolve the issues that The Seattle children hospital has implemented a
Tableau Software business intelligence application, Tableau Software is a company
that provide a data visualization program and focuses on business intelligent. The
Seattle children hospital uses the Tableau software that provides a web application
that is easy to use analytics and create a better visualization for better understand
about the meaning of the data that is insighted from the hospital in which it can
help in making a better decision to reduce the inefficiency the hospital want to
achieve by showing the root causes and contributing factors.

5. Data sources and integration:

In order for Tableau to create the visualization needed It need to use a database
which is already stored in the hospital server in which these data are extracted from
the database in order to make some transformation to the data like cleaning,
removing duplication, etc. later on these are located in data warehouse which the
stored data can be used later on to provide visualization on daily or monthly bases
that can be easier for the users to take a decisions and provide what they need to
preform to resolve the problem.

 6. User interface:

The Tableau user interface and dashboard are easy for the user to use since it
provides graphical chart for the users to see all the result of the data collected and
what they need to do to increase efficiency.

It also can be used to look at the no. of rooms that the children are available and
their leaving over the year as shown in the figure below:

7. User beneficial:

This solution has provided a great benefit to the users in the hospitals that is
divided in to seven users each user have their own advantage of using Tableau
software

1. Stakeholders: the visualization of the data can help them in making a better
decision by looking at the problems and what causes it to provide solutions
based on the data collected and visualized.

2. Data analysts: the analysis of the data can be made easily for them thanks for
the Tableau web application that can collect data to its dashboard from the
hospital database and for detailed analysis of the data.

 3. Business managers: the managers could also take a decision on how to
reduce inefficiency in the hospital by looking ate the factors that cause the
problem by the visualization that the software provide.

4. Financial analysts: the reports that is provided by the software could help
the analysists to make any financial decisions that could help in to maintain
the financial status of the hospital.

5. Clinicians and doctors: Those are the important pillars of the hospital as they
can access the easy-to-use analytics and dashboard in order to measure a
waiting time for the patients and who has the priority to enter to see the
doctor and clinicians to check which doctor is assigned.

6. Researchers: with the help of Tableau Software business intelligence

application, they can analysis the problem by the data visualization which
they have access to in order to check what is the problem they need to search
on to reduce

8. Results and benefits:

Those solutions have come with a great benefit for the hospital that made more
data insight more quickly and efficient for a better decision making also reducing
the waiting line queue that made delays and low efficiency which help the hospital
to eliminate the long queue in the waiting line along with increasing the number of
patients who are served by the hospital as well as a daily and monthly dashboard

that Tableau provide to the users in order to make a better decision based on the
data collected and stored in the database.

9. Conclusion:

In conclusion, The Seattle children hospital has many issues that resulted in
inefficiency from lack data insight and long waiting line in addition to the poor
dashboard and long time in analyzing the data and with the help of the Tableau
Software business intelligence application that provide a dashboard web
application which is easy to use and visualization those problems have been
resolved and more efficiency in serving the patients and decision making are easy
and efficient to make.
