Tender WE2/24 Frequently asked questions

Lot 2- supply and fix of 1, 000 square metre Greenhouses

Q1: Is the greenhouse strictly wooden structure
Ans1: The greenhouse is a wooden structure.

Lot 3- Borehole capacity testing and Solar electrification of 100metre deep commercial
boreholes

Q1: How many hours capacity test are we to quote on?

Ans1: The test period is for 48hours.

Q2: Types of pumps, the RFQ says 3hp submersible and 3hp Booster pumps- does this mean we
quote for 11 of sub pumps and 11 of booster pumps?
Ans2: The quote for now should have 3hp submersible pumps.

Q3: There are no Storage tanks requested for, how are the two pumps going to work?
Ans 3: The plan is to have 2 by 10,000litre storage tanks on 4 metre tank stands

Q4: We kindly requesting for a schematic layout of the scheme so we can quote accordingly.
Ans4: At the moment there are no schematic renderings for the 11 schemes but information that
any prospective bidder would require clarification on will be provided.

Q5: Kindly clarify preferred brand name if any of DC and Booster pump?
Ans 5: No preferred brand that the project will insist on, but all these suggested brands should be
cost effective.
Q6: Preferred type of fencing for the boreholes?
Ans 6: The preferred type of fencing will be diamond mesh with 1.8m height with a lockable
pedestrian gate that will secure the pump, solar panels with an estimated perimeter of 30metres.
Q7: Is this new installation or there is existing borehole and which infrastructure is existing?
Ans7: There are existing holes that would have been drilled and cased by a different service
provider and this tender is then looking for suppliers to equip these.
Q8: Is the contractor to connect the system to reservoir and water distribution network for
network or not?
Ans8: The supplier is supposed to connect this to 2 by 10,000litre tanks and 4 metre tank stands
that should be part of this quotation.
Q9: Preferred design layout of solar system?
Ans 9: The contractor must design these using the information provided with cost effectiveness in
mind.
Q10: Expected distance for the tap from the tank?
Ans10: Within a 5-metre radius.
Q11: Is there any other distance to be covered for the installation or its strictly power from the
solar panel to the pump and the distance between a tank and tank?
Ans 11: The proposed 2 storage tanks should be 50metres apart.
Q12: Are all borehole sites 100metres deep?
Ans12: The project is working with 100metres for now as an estimate and a common depth for
comparing bids.
Q13: Are we allowed to design the solar pumping system as per our pump specifications?
Ans13: Yes.
Q14: Is the system pumping into storage tanks?
Ans 14: Yes, 2 by 10,000litre storage tanks sitting on 4metre tank stands.
Q15: What is the distance from the Borehole to the Tanks and the dwelling for the purpose of
water pipework and power supply are they same distance for all 11 sites?
Ans15: These will be in a 5-ha plot and the distance from one tank to the next is 50metres and this
is taken as a standard across the 11 sites.
Q16: Are the tanks and stands available or shall be included in the BOQ and capacity and quantity?
Ans16: These should be included in BoQ and as shared above its 2 by 10,000litre tanks sitting on 4
metre tank stands.
Q17: Are we supposed to quote for a booster tank or pump control?
Ans17: For this work include a pump control.
Q18: Please clarify the required size of solar panels as there are discrepancies between page 2 and
page 4. On page 2, 15 x 350W panels are needed, while on page 4, 15 x 460W panels are required?
Ans18: The standard panel specifications should be 460W and the proposed number should be in
relation to the pump size and other design considerations.

Lot 4- Supply and fix of fence

Q1: Clarity on the total linear metres for the 11 sites as stated on page 6 of 16. The fence to cover
a total of five hectares with perimeter 1200metres is not proving us with enough information for
quoting purpose. Could you provide us with total probable metres we should work with?
Ans1: The perimeter for a standard 5 ha plot with 500m length and 100m width is 1,200m which
should be quoted for as a standard across the 11 sites.
Q2: For the 2,5mm fence do you have specific hole size?
Ans2: The aperture sizes for the diamond mesh should be standard for Zimbabwe.
Q3: Is there a bill of quantities for the supply and fix of fence or we have to formulate on our own?
Ans3: The information provided on the type of fence, height and the barbed wire, the perimeter
and the 2 gates should provide you with adequate information for the BoQ. If this is not adequate
kindly share so that the team can quickly respond to the additional information you might require.
Q4: Is 1200 per site or overall of 11site?
Ans4: It is per site.
Q5: When you illustrate 1.8metres steel poles is 1.8m the desired height?
Ans5: Yes
Q6: If that is correct (as assumed) when you then state 1.2 metres of 2,5mm diamond fence is that
the space between poles or? Our standard width is 2.5m to 3m hence why we are inquiring to
ensure we put the right quantities into our material schedule.
Ans6: 1.2m is the height for the diamond fence and the difference is then covered by the 3-strand
barbed wire.
Q7: It would be helpful if you could kindly provide me with more information regarding the type of
fencing required for the project. Is it diamond fencing or palisade fencing? Additionally, if possible,
could you kindly provide an estimate of the approximate perimeter to be covered for bidding
purposes?
Ans7: The perimeter is 1,200m, diamond fence with 1.2m height and 3 strand barbed wire to bring
the total to 1.8m.
Q8: 1.8m steels polls, do they have an overhang?
Ans8: No
