The most common verbs to express likes and dislikes are love, enjoy, like and hate. They are used in simple present
tense because they are routines or habitual actions .
The verbs love, enjoy, like and dislike follow the same structure of the simple present tens e.

Infinitive form or gerund form?

In general, when you want to use two verbs together in a sentence in English, you have only two options.
1. You use “to” between the two verbs. That is, the second verb needs an infinitive form .
The verbs that are always followed by another verb in its infinitive form are: agree, arrange, decide, deserve, expect, fail, forget, hope,
intend, learn, offer, plan, promise, refuse, remind and want.
Examples:
• I want to work
• We need to study

2. Some verbs require the second verb in a gerund for m (ING ending)
The verbs that are always followed by another verb in its gerund form are: admit, appreciate, avoid, consider, deny, enjoy, finish,
imagine, mind, miss, practice, quit, regret, resent, suggest and postpone

3. Some verbs can be followed by verbs in the infinitive form or the gerund form, with a little difference in

Connector sor conjuctions


The main function of connectors in English grammar is to join words or sentences to express an idea. The correct usage of connectors
gives coherence to what you write or communicate orally. Check out the following rules:

Connectors Function Example

Example:

I wake up around 6:30 a.m. Then, I get up at 7 a.m, brush my teeth, take a shower and get dressed. After that, I have breakfast and use
my phone. When I finish breakfast, I take the bus to work. I start work at 9 a.m. I have meetings, talk on the phone and prepare
documents and reports. At 1 p.m I have lunch. After lunch, I go back to work. I finish work at 6 p.m. After work, I go to the gym, I like to
exercise. After that, I go home. I get home around 8 p.m. Then I have dinner, take a shower and watch Tv. I go to bed around 11 p.m
On weekends, I don’t work. I usually stay home or go out with my friends.

Adverbs of frequency
Adverbs of frecuency is a word that tell us HOW OFTEN something happens. Adverbs of frequency are useful to describe how
often actions happen. Use the following forms:
• Before a main verb (except with To Be)
Subject + adver b + main verb
I always remember to do my homework. He normally gets good marks in his exams
• After the verb To Be.
Subject + to be +adver b
They are never pleased to see me. She isn’t usually bad tempered

We can also use the following adverbs at the start of a sentence.

• We cannot use the following at the beginning of a sentence.

• We use hardly ever and never with positive, not negative verbs.

• We can also use the following expressions when we want to be more specific about the frequency.

My routine
I always get up at seven o'clock. Then I eat breakfast. I usually eat cereal and drink a glass of milk. Then I walk the dog. I always eat lunch
at twelve fifteen. At lunchtime, I usually drink coke and eat a big salad. I never eat meat because I’m a vegetarian. I often have dinner
at six o'clock in the evening.
I sometimes watch my favourite TV programs in the afternoons.
Later, I do my homework and go to bed. I often go to bed at ten o'clock. I occasionally go to bed late.
