Summer Speech Challenge: Week 5

Instructions: Choose one or two challenges for your child this week. Explain the challenge to your
child and award points each time the child completes the challenge (or for every 5 or 10 times,
depending on your child’s skill level). At the end of the week, allow your child to turn in his points for
rewards (you can decide what they are and how much they cost).

Shake Hands Expansions

Earn a point for every good handshake you do. A
good handshake must include a firm (but not too
firm) grip, a smile, eye contact, and some kind
words like “good game” or “nice to meet you”.
This week, YOU can earn a point by using an ex-
pansion. Expand on what your child says by re-
peating it back and adding one word to it. Or, if
your child uses a gesture, you can speak a single
word that reflects what she’s doing/showing you.
