WEEKLY DIARY
March 4, 2024
Today was my first day at the Local Youth Development Office, and it was quite an adventure. As a
student intern, It was exciting but also scary. Everyone seemed busy and serious while minding their own
business. I met my some new coworkers and my two classmate, who were really nice and helped me settle
in.
I did lots of different things, like organizing papers and helping my coworkers. It's a bit
overwhelming, but I tried my best. By the end of the day, I was tired but happy. Looking forward to what's
ahead!

March 5, 2024
Today was my second day at the Kalinga Provincial Capitol's Local Youth Development Office, I'm still
getting used to the ropes here.
Started off by shadowing our proctor members to learn about their daily tasks. Took notes and
asked lots of questions to understand the projects they're working on.
Got assigned a to task like doing some paper works. It felt good to contribute, even in a small way.
Had lunch with some of the other interns and chatted about our experiences so far.
Wrapped up the day by reviewing what I learned and setting goals for tomorrow. Overall, it was
another enriching day at the office, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be here.

March 6, 2024
Today was my third day at the Local Youth Development Office. At first, I felt unsure, but as the day
went on, I started to get the hang of things. I began to do tasks and felt more comfortable in the office.
I made friends with one of the other workers, a Junior Officer. They were really helpful and made
me feel welcome. We worked together on some projects General Intake Sheet in particular.
Even though the office seemed overwhelming at first, I tried my best to learn as much as I could. I
asked questions when I needed help, and everyone was really patient with me.
As the day ended, I looked back on how far I've come. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm feeling more
confident every day. I'm excited to keep growing and doing meaningful work here.

March 7, 2024
Today, my fourth day at the Youth Development Office, felt like a breeze. My immersion buddies had
become close friends, and we tackled our tasks together like a well-oiled machine.
We spent the day focusing on General Intake Sheet (GIS) work, sorting through paperwork. It was
tough, but we didn't give up. Instead, we worked as a team, supporting each other every step of the way.
By the end of the day, we finished a three batches of General Intake Sheet (GIS) paperwork. We
celebrated our success with talking about personal things and getting to know each other more. Working
together made everything easier, and I'm grateful for the friendships I've made here

March 8, 2024
Today was my fifth day at the Youth Development Office, and it felt like time flew by. I did my usual
tasks like sorting paperwork and helping out wherever I could.
But the best part was finally finishing up all the GIS work. It took a lot of effort, but with the help of
my buddies, we got it done. It felt really good to see everything come together.
As I packed up for the day, I couldn't help but feel excited for next week. I wonder what tasks and
challenges lie ahead. Whatever it is, I'm ready to dive in and give it my all.

March 11, 2024

After the weekend, Monday morning arrived, and we were asked to attend the Women's Month
and National rabies Month event at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium. It was inspiring to be part of such an
important occasion.
Back at the office, we received a warm welcome from our proctors and buddies. It felt great to be
back and surrounded by supportive colleagues. We dove into our work, starting with sorting files alongside
one of our coworkers.
Later, we continued our GIS tasks, focusing on projects for college students. It was a productive day,
filled with teamwork and determination. As the day came to an end, I felt grateful for the opportunity to
contribute to meaningful work and excited for what the rest of the week holds.\

March 12, 2024

Today, we picked up where we left off with the GIS tasks for college students. With focused
determination, we made significant progress, ensuring that everything was in order and ready for the next
steps.
However, our boss noticed our hard work and insisted that we take a break. He surprised us with a
thoughtful gesture, buying each member of the team two tabs of ice cream. It was a simple but
heartwarming gesture that brought smiles to our faces.
We enjoyed our sweet treats together, savoring the moment of camaraderie and appreciation. It
was a reminder of the supportive environment we were fortunate to be a part of.
As we wrapped up for the day, we headed home feeling content and fulfilled. The day had been
productive, and the small act of kindness from our boss left us with a sense of gratitude and happiness.

March 13, 2024

I arrived at the workplace 10 minutes before 8:00, allowing me to start the day by tidying up a bit
before assisting a colleague with her interview for our work immersion portfolio. Upon completing that
task, I returned to the receiving area where I carried out my usual duties alongside my supervisors.
During moments of downtime, I utilized my time efficiently to tackle any pending tasks related to
my portfolio, although I remained flexible and ready to assist whenever my supervisors required my help.
As the afternoon progressed, I continued to stay focused and productive, primarily handling tasks
such as stamping received transactions and ensuring the prompt delivery of papers to their designated
sections within the office.

March 14, 2024

Today was incredibly hectic, with a constant stream of tasks and deadlines coming our way. The
pressure was on, and I found myself feeling overwhelmed, unsure of where to even begin. When I was
asked to deliver a specific document to a colleague, I ended up giving it to the wrong person, causing a mix-
up.
Despite the mistake, I couldn’t help but chuckle at myself for getting confused, especially since I had
already started to become familiar with everyone in the office by my fourth day there. It was a reminder
that even in the midst of chaos, it’s important to maintain a sense of humor and learn from these
experiences to grow and improve in my role.

March 15, 2024

The last day of my immersion felt like any other day, but it turned out to be filled with unexpected
surprises and heartfelt moments.
I arrived early and pitched in with cleaning tasks before joining my coworker to monitor the athletes
once more. Little did I know, a delightful surprise awaited us.
Our boss invited us for lunch at the skybridge, and I was thrilled. We arrived, and our boss ordered
an array of delicious dishes. Though I encountered a slight hiccup with some seafood due to allergies, I
managed with my medication and enjoyed the meal with my boss and buddies.
Afterward, back at the office, we were unexpectedly interviewed by our proctor. Despite feeling
nervous, I was relieved to pass the interview. We were then graded, and to commemorate our time
together, we gathered for photos and heartfelt goodbyes.
Saying farewell to everyone was bittersweet, but we exchanged gratitude and well wishes. As we
gathered in front of the main building of the capitol for group photos with other immersion students, we
reminisced about our experiences.
Heading home, tired but elated, I reflected on the journey and the bonds formed. It was a day filled
with surprises, challenges, and ultimately, cherished memories that I would carry with me for a long time.

WORKPLACE ETIQUETTE AND PROFESSIONALISM

Workplace etiquette and professionalism encompass the behaviors, attitudes, and manners
considered appropriate in a professional setting. It's crucial for immersion students as it helps them
integrate smoothly into the professional world and build positive relationships. To obtain workplace
etiquette and professionalism, students should be punctual, ensuring they arrive to work and meetings on
time, respecting the time of their colleagues and clients. Effective communication is also paramount,
involving active listening, clear articulation, and prompt responses to colleagues, supervisors, and clients.
Respecting personal space and boundaries involves avoiding gossip, maintaining appropriate noise levels,
and honoring the privacy of others.
Additionally, showing gratitude and appreciation by acknowledging the efforts of colleagues,
expressing thanks, and offering assistance when needed fosters a positive work environment. Observing
and learning from experienced professionals provides valuable insight into workplace norms and
expectations. Dressing appropriately and maintaining cleanliness and organization in one's workspace
contribute to a professional demeanor. Following company policies and procedures demonstrates respect
for the organization's rules and regulations. Taking initiative, being proactive, and fostering teamwork and
collaboration are also essential aspects of professionalism. By consistently practicing these behaviors,
immersion students can cultivate good workplace etiquette and professionalism, contributing to a
harmonious and successful work environment.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS

We are given an opportunity to talk to Mrs. Marilou D. Addamag, a dedicated employee at the Local Youth
Development Office in Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga Province, Philippines. Marilou shared her journey from
her upbringing to her fulfilling career in public service.
Mrs. Marilou fondly recalled her upbringing in Kalinga Province, where she learned the values of
hard work and community engagement. These values have been the cornerstone of her career in public
service, where she strives to make a positive impact on the lives of the youth in her province.
Throughout her tenure at the Local Youth Development Office, Mrs. Marilou has faced various
challenges, but her determination and passion for her work have seen her through. She emphasized the
importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing the needs of the youth and empowering them to
reach their full potential.

initiatives that promote education and youth development. She believes in the power of grassroots efforts
and community involvement in driving meaningful change.

TEAMWORK AND COLLABORATION

In my experience at the Local Youth Development Office, I've witnessed firsthand the indispensable
role of teamwork in achieving our goals. From receiving documents to the final approval by Mr. George
Ban-os, every team member's contribution is crucial. Despite not always being physically together, our
collaboration ensures smooth and efficient task completion.
Within our office, there's a clear understanding of how each individual's responsibilities contribute
to our overall objectives. Whether it's handling paperwork, organizing events, or communicating with
stakeholders, every task is significant. This shared understanding fosters a sense of accountability and
dedication among team members.
Furthermore, my experience has shown me that effective teamwork involves regular
communication and collaboration. By exchanging ideas and solving problems together, we enhance our
processes and maximize our effectiveness. Ultimately, the success of the Local Youth Development Office
underscores the importance of teamwork in achieving organizational goals.

Setting a work schedule is essential for effective time management and maintaining focus
throughout the day. It provides individuals with a clear road-map of tasks to accomplish, helping them
prioritize their responsibilities and allocate time appropriately. By adhering to a structured plan, individuals
can avoid distractions and procrastination, ensuring that they make the most of their available time.
Moreover, a well-planned schedule instills a sense of discipline and routine, which can enhance
productivity and efficiency in completing tasks.

Furthermore, a work schedule serves as a source of motivation and accountability. As individuals

progress through their planned tasks and see their accomplishments unfold according to schedule, they
experience a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. This positive reinforcement not only boosts morale but
also encourages individuals to maintain their momentum and strive for further success. Ultimately, a
carefully crafted work schedule not only aids in time management but also cultivates a mindset of
dedication and achievement, driving individuals towards their goals with purpose and determination.

PROBLEM-SOLVING AND DECISION-MAKING

During my time at the provincial accounting office, I had the opportunity to witness how
professionals handle unexpected problems with grace and professionalism. When a discrepancy in payroll
transactions was discovered, instead of panicking or causing chaos, they calmly assessed the situation and
took appropriate steps to rectify the error.
This experience taught me the importance of remaining composed and level-headed when faced
with challenges. It highlighted the significance of making informed decisions and taking decisive actions to
address issues effectively.
In any decision-making process, it is crucial to gather all relevant information, analyze the situation
carefully, and consider the potential consequences of each choice. By observing the professionals in action,
I learned the value of approaching problems with a clear mind and a strategic mindset.
Moving forward, I am inspired to emulate their professionalism and problem-solving skills in my
own work. I will strive to handle unexpected situations with composure and confidence, making well-
thought-out decisions that lead to successful outcomes. This experience has truly shown me the
importance of effective decision-making in navigating professional challenges.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS

In the bustling reception area of the Local Youth Development Office, I find myself at the center of
activity, welcoming visitors with a friendly smile while simultaneously tending to the paperwork that keeps
our office running smoothly. With each visitor who walks through the door, I make it my mission to ensure
they feel valued and supported. I patiently listen to their questions and concerns, offering assistance and
guidance in a clear and friendly manner.
While attending to the needs of our visitors, I also manage the administrative tasks that are
essential to our operations. Keeping track of paperwork, scheduling appointments, and organizing files
requires careful attention to detail and effective time management. I prioritize tasks based on their
importance and deadline, ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks.
Despite the constant flow of visitors and paperwork, I take pride in my ability to maintain a calm
and welcoming atmosphere in the reception area. By combining excellent customer service with efficient
task management, I contribute to the overall success of the Local Youth Development Office, helping to
create a positive and productive environment for both visitors and staff alike.

Financial goals are targets individuals set to manage their money effectively. For students, these
goals are particularly important as they navigate the transition into adulthood and begin to take control of
their finances. Setting financial goals helps students establish a clear direction for their money, whether it's
saving for tuition, managing student loan debt, or building an emergency fund. By defining specific
objectives, students can develop responsible financial habits early on, such as budgeting, saving, and
avoiding unnecessary debt.
Moreover, financial goals provide students with a sense of purpose and motivation in their financial
journey. Whether it's saving up for a study abroad program, purchasing textbooks, or covering living
expenses, having clear goals helps students stay focused and disciplined with their spending habits.
Additionally, achieving these goals instills a sense of accomplishment and confidence in managing money,
setting a positive foundation for future financial decisions.
Furthermore, financial goals for students extend beyond immediate needs and can contribute to
long-term financial success. By starting to save and invest early, students can take advantage of
compounding interest and build wealth over time. Whether it's saving for a down payment on a house,
investing for retirement, or pursuing further education, setting and achieving financial goals during student
years lays the groundwork for a secure and prosperous financial future.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

Creating a comprehensive occupational health and safety plan for the immersion office within the
work place involves identifying potential hazards specific to the office environment, providing employee
training on safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Adhering to such a plan is
vital as it mitigates risks, prevents accidents and injuries, and fosters a culture of safety among employees
especially if you are going on a field activity, for example going out to distribute the educational assistance
of the youth, going on a trip to monitor the youth on any specific places and more (This is only on the Local
Youth Development Office) .
By following established procedures, using equipment properly, and reporting hazards promptly,
employees actively contribute to their own safety in the workplace. This proactive approach not only
safeguards individual well-being but also enhances overall productivity and efficiency. Therefore, both
employers and employees share the responsibility of creating and maintaining a safe work environment
conducive to optimal performance and employee satisfaction.
Moreover, encouraging employees to prioritize their own health and safety not only benefits the
individuals but also the organization as a whole. A workplace that values and supports employee well-being
tends to have higher morale, lower turnover rates, and improved reputation. Ultimately, investing in
occupational health and safety measures is not just a legal requirement but also a strategic decision that
yields long-term benefits for all stakeholders involved.

CAREER EXPLORATION AND GOAL SETTING

During my time at the Local Youth Development Office for work immersion, I've had the
opportunity to explore potential career paths aligned with my studies in business accountancy. One
avenue that particularly caught my interest is financial analysis. Through this role, I envision myself diving
deep into company finances, analyzing data to provide valuable insights for strategic decision-making. This
career path not only utilizes my analytical skills but also allows me to contribute to the success of
businesses by helping them optimize their financial performance.
Another exciting prospect I've considered is becoming a tax consultant. With tax regulations
constantly evolving, there's a growing demand for professionals who can navigate the complexities of tax
laws and provide expert guidance to individuals and businesses. As a tax consultant, I see myself assisting
clients in minimizing their tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with legal requirements. This role
appeals to me as it offers the opportunity to apply my knowledge of accounting principles in a dynamic and
ever-changing environment.
Furthermore, I'm intrigued by the prospect of pursuing a career in forensic accounting. This field
combines my passion for accounting with investigative skills to uncover financial fraud and misconduct. As
a forensic accountant, I would play a crucial role in uncovering financial irregularities, providing litigation
support, and ultimately promoting financial transparency and integrity. This career path aligns with my
desire to make a meaningful impact and uphold ethical standards in the business world. Through these
potential career paths, I aim to leverage my education and skills to pursue a fulfilling and impactful career
in the field of business accountancy.

WORK PLACE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Workplace diversity and inclusion mean creating a space where people from different backgrounds,
cultures, and identities feel valued, respected, and included. It's about embracing and celebrating
differences in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, abilities, and more. In a local youth
development office, this could involve hiring staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds, offering
training on unconscious bias, and creating policies that promote fairness and equality for all young people,
regardless of their backgrounds. By fostering diversity and inclusion, the office can create a supportive
environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and talents towards
the common goal of supporting youth development.
In practical terms, workplace diversity and inclusion in a local youth development office mean
ensuring that all young people, regardless of their backgrounds, feel welcome and supported. This could
involve organizing events or programs that celebrate different cultures and identities, providing resources
and support tailored to the needs of diverse youth, and actively listening to and addressing any concerns or
challenges faced by staff or youth from underrepresented groups. Ultimately, by prioritizing diversity and
inclusion, the office can better fulfill its mission of empowering and supporting all young people to reach
their full potential.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATION IN THE WORKPLACE

When reflecting on the ethical behaviors of my colleagues, it is important to acknowledge that
perfection is an unattainable standard for anyone. There have been instances where individuals may have
displayed impatience or frustration, particularly when addressing customer errors in transactions. However,
it is crucial to recognize that these lapses in behavior do not define their overall character.
Despite occasional shortcomings, I have come to understand and appreciate the generosity and
leadership qualities exhibited by my supervisors. Their guidance and support have been invaluable to me,
and I continue to view them as remarkable individuals who strive to uphold ethical standards in their
decision-making processes. This experience serves as a reminder of the complexities of ethical behavior
and the importance of empathy and understanding in evaluating the actions of others.

NETWORKING AND BUILDING PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS
During my 10-day immersion stint at the Local Youth Development Office, I prioritized building both
professional networks and meaningful relationships. Recognizing the value of networking, I actively
engaged with colleagues, supervisors, and other professionals within the office. By participating in team
meetings, volunteering for collaborative projects, and seeking mentor ship opportunities, I established
connections that extended beyond the duration of my immersion. These interactions not only enriched my
understanding of the office's operations but also allowed me to learn from seasoned professionals in the
field.
Moreover, I focused on honing my leadership and management skills during my time in the office.
Whether it was taking the initiative to organize a workshop for local youth or stepping up to lead a small
team on a community project, I embraced opportunities to demonstrate my leadership abilities. By
effectively communicating goals, delegating tasks, and providing support to team members, I was able to
contribute positively to the office's objectives while developing my own leadership capabilities.
Lastly, I approached my immersion experience with a personal commitment to fostering genuine
relationships with my colleagues. Beyond professional interactions, I made an effort to connect on a
personal level, whether through casual conversations during breaks or by showing appreciation for their
expertise and guidance. By cultivating a supportive and collaborative environment, I not only enhanced my
own sense of belonging within the office but also laid the foundation for long-lasting professional
relationships that extend beyond the confines of the immersion program.

WORKPLACE TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL SKILLS

On my fourth day of immersion, I stepped into the realm of computer work at the Local Youth
Development Office. They assigned me various tasks, such as editing files, logos, and organizing names for
the athletes. It was a hands-on experience that introduced me to graphic design software and editing tools,
equipping me with new skills to enhance visual elements and ensure professional presentation.
This immersion allowed me to develop my workplace technology and digital skills significantly. I
learned how to navigate different software and execute tasks more efficiently, which boosted my
confidence in handling digital responsibilities. Moreover, I gained a deeper understanding of the role of
technology in streamlining workflows and maximizing productivity in a professional setting.

Through this experience, I realized the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in
today's digital age. It showed me that by embracing new technologies and continuously improving my skills,
I can stay competitive in the job market and contribute effectively to organizational success. This milestone
underscores my commitment to leveraging technology effectively to achieve goals and drive progress in the
workplace.

WORK-LIFE BALANCE AND STRESS MANAGEMEN

As an introverted student immersed in the Local Youth Development Office, finding a balance
between work and personal life while managing stress can be quite challenging. Each day presents new
opportunities to engage with strangers, which can often be intimidating. However, I've learned to navigate
these situations by focusing on self-care and utilizing strategies to manage stress effectively.
In my role at the Local Youth Development Office, interacting with strangers is inevitable. While it
may not come naturally to me, I've discovered that preparation is key. Before engaging in conversations or
meetings, I take the time to research and gather information. This not only helps me feel more confident
but also provides a foundation for meaningful discussions.
Despite my introverted nature, I've found ways to connect with others authentically. Instead of
forcing myself to be overly outgoing, I prioritize active listening and thoughtful responses. By focusing on
the needs and perspectives of others, I've been able to establish genuine connections and build rapport
over time.
However, it's important to acknowledge that constant interaction can be draining for introverts. To
maintain a healthy work-life balance, I make self-care a priority. This includes setting boundaries,
scheduling regular breaks, and engaging in activities that recharge my energy levels, such as reading,
meditation, or spending time in nature.
Additionally, I've learned to recognize the signs of stress and implement coping mechanisms when
needed. Whether it's deep breathing exercises, taking a short walk, or seeking support from colleagues,
having a toolkit of stress management techniques has been invaluable in navigating the demands of my
role.
Overall, while being an introverted student in the Local Youth Development Office presents its
challenges, it's also an opportunity for personal growth and development. By embracing my strengths,
prioritizing self-care, and utilizing effective stress management strategies, I'm able to thrive in both my
work and personal life.

WORKPLACE WELLNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH

As an observer during my brief 10-day immersion in the local youth development office, I've noticed
the emphasis placed on youth empowerment and mental health support within the workplace. While I
didn't personally experience all aspects of the office's wellness program, I observed its impact on both the
staff and the youth they serve.

During my time in the office, I witnessed various initiatives aimed at promoting mental well-being,
such as mindfulness sessions, stress management workshops, and access to counseling services. These
resources were clearly valued by both staff members and the youth community, contributing to a positive
and supportive work environment.
Additionally, I observed a culture of open communication and camaraderie among team members,
where discussions about mental health were encouraged and met with empathy. This inclusive atmosphere
not only fostered strong bonds within the team but also promoted a sense of trust and support among
colleagues.
While my immersion experience was brief, it was evident that the local youth development office
is committed to prioritizing mental health and wellness. By providing comprehensive resources and
fostering a supportive workplace culture, they are not only empowering their staff but also setting a
positive example for the youth they serve.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION
As an immersion student in the Local Youth Development Office, I've managed to maintain a positive
attitude by fostering humility and kindness towards my proctor and fellow immersion students. This
approach has helped cultivate a harmonious environment where conflicts are rare occurrences. While I
haven't directly encountered conflicts during my time here, I've observed and learned from the conflict
resolution processes implemented by the staff. Through this experience, I've come to appreciate the
importance of maintaining positive relationships and open communication channels, which serve as
preventive measures against potential conflicts. My commitment to a positive attitude not only contributes
to a supportive atmosphere but also reinforces the values of empathy and understanding within our team
and the broader youth community we serve.

exhilarating journey filled with both enjoyment and challenges. From the outset, I was eager to dive into
the real-world dynamics of youth development initiatives. The environment was vibrant, bustling with
youthful energy and innovative ideas, setting the stage for an enjoyable experience.
Initially, the tasks assigned were straightforward, yet they quickly evolved into complex challenges
that pushed me to think critically and creatively. Whether it was organizing events, conducting research, or
drafting proposals, each task presented its own set of hurdles that required problem-solving skills and
adaptability. Despite the occasional frustrations, overcoming these obstacles was immensely rewarding and
added a sense of fulfillment to my experience.
Interacting with various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and fellow
youth, was both enjoyable and enlightening. Engaging in discussions, listening to different perspectives,
and collaborating on projects broadened my understanding of youth development issues and honed my
communication skills. Building relationships with colleagues and mentors fostered a supportive
environment where I felt encouraged to explore new ideas and take on greater responsibilities.
However, midst the enjoyment, there were moments of challenge that tested my perseverance and
resilience. Balancing academic commitments with the demands of the immersion program required careful
time management and prioritization. Additionally, navigating bureaucratic processes and dealing with
setbacks taught me the importance of patience and perseverance in achieving long-term goals.
In retrospect, my work immersion at the local youth development office was a transformative
