1. a) What are the objectives of human resource management? Discuss briefly the (10)
frameworks and decruitment options usually followed in the human resource
management.

b) What is effective team theory? Explain briefly the characteristics of a successful team (07)
incorporating the SWOT analysis.

c) Suppose you are a leader of a research team. Explain briefly the steps required to build (08)
such technical research teamwork.

2. a) What is management by objective? Discuss briefly the benefits and drawbacks (10)
experienced in the performance appraisal system. What is stock option in the incentive
pay system?

b) What are the major causes of the industrial accidents? Discuss the various ways to (07)
prevent the industrial accidents incorporating with relevant codes and standards.

c) What are the general frameworks for industrial and labor relations? Discuss briefly the (08)
current developments in the industrial revolutions.

3. a) Brown and Brown Electronics manufactures a line of digital audiotape (DAT) players. (15)
While there are differences among the various products, there are a number of common
parts within each player. The bill of materials, showing the number of each item
required, lead times and the current inventory on hand for the parts and components,
follows:

b) There are following seven jobs and they must pass through Machine 1 and Machine 2. (10)
Operating time for both the machines is shown below for each of the job.

A. Schedule (job sequence and show the arrangement in diagram for machine 1
& 2) the seven jobs through two machines in sequence to minimize the flow
time using Johnson’s rule.
B. Find the job completion time.
C. Find the slack time or idle time for machine 1 & 2, separately.

4. a) The following information is available about a project (10)

A. Draw the AON network diagram

B. Find the project completion time
C. Find the critical path
D. Find ES/EF and LS/LF for each of the activities
E. If you reduce the time required for activity F & G by 1 day each, find the
project completion time and critical path as well.
b) How much does the total cost increase if the store manager orders twice as many bird (07)
feeders as the EOQ? How much the total cost increase if the store manager orders half
as many bird feeders as the EOQ?

c) Explain briefly the important traits of a leader? Do you think that only the traits (08)
determine a good leader? Justify your answer.
