A NARRATIVE REPORT ON BIPOLAR II MANIAC EPISODE AT CENTRAL BAUGAN

INTEGRATED SCHOOL

On June 7, 2021 at 9:00 p.m. before bedtime, one of our colleagues, Leslie Vee C.
Tomayao, experienced unusual feeling. She can hardly breath because she felt
anxious. She began complaining about her abdominal pain. We immediately rub her
with liniment to somehow ease what she felt. We thought it is just because of her
menstrual period that time. But as we about to sleep, she started murmuring something.
She complained of how she being rude to her family until she never slept for the whole
night.

On Tuesday morning, June 8, 2021, she started the day very unusual. Seen in her face
as she really never slept. She began doing strange things like piling some stones,
cleaning the feeding center and speaking silly words. After our breakfast, she took a
capsule of enervon as her vitamin. After an hour, she showed unusual things like
interrupting conversation that is not related to the topic, shouting without any reason
and speaking bad words. She threw hard things to her colleagues and she slapped the
face of one of our teachers. She kept on shouting bad words. She cannot recognize the
people around her. All she uttered is the name of her husband and his mistress. The
community, including our students witnessed the situation because they were curious
and confuse on what had happened. We explained to them the situation and send them
home. One of our trusted parents of Central Baugan, came and helped us to ease the
situation through calming and controlling her actions. Even her witnessed and received
violent actions. We were alarmed that time because her condition possibly attacked her
again. We don’t know what to do that time because it was the first time we experience
the incident. All we did was to make her calm. She first confined to have a bipolar
condition in her first assigned school.

Due to the incident, we were alarmed and worried because she has the capacity to hurt
anyone of us. We brainstormed some precautionary measures to do if the incident will
happen again. Our school head reported the incident to the division office and the
DRRM office headed by Ms. Mary Kristine Sagot initiated one day psychosocial support
to us teachers who experienced and witnessed the incident.
